RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted May 26, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted May 26, 2018 Nothing missed Paul! I've no idea why but it was in the sixties to the seventies. I have a few of their office filing trays. Picture shows part of the factory buildings that remain IIRC. There were several scruffy looking metal buildings beyond (down the line).
MinZaPint
The Devon Belle was looking good when we were there on the 2nd May and the interior was very smart and admired by her Ladyship! very enjoyable trip and well worth the extra to travel in her.

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted June 14, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 14, 2018 Perhaps they could quickly repaint it while it's there. Or fit a fictitious nameplate on the smokebox.
HSB
As a non-GWR fanatic I think it looks rather attractive in blue!
Horsetan
As it seems unlikely to go mainline any time soon, maybe they could put the proper chimney, safety valve bonnet and cab back?
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted June 15, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 15, 2018 As a non-GWR fanatic I think it looks rather attractive in blue! IMG_20180614_143213_1CS.jpg A lot of people do - including GW fans. And I like blue on some locos but I don't think it suits the King. As it seems unlikely to go mainline any time soon, maybe they could put the proper chimney, safety valve bonnet and cab back? That would greatly improve its looks. mdvle
As it seems unlikely to go mainline any time soon, maybe they could put the proper chimney, safety valve bonnet and cab back? Mentioned elsewhere that some modifications have been made and the owners felt time on the Dartmouth line would be good for testing, thus a guess would be restoring it would defeat the purpose of it being there. On the left are the two short 'Forwards' sidings (there used to be three). 'Kingswear Castle' docking at Town Quay Dartmouth today.

Cheekypaul
Is the blue King in service yet John ? I am staying in a holiday apartment in Kingswear that is directly opposite the station. I can see all trains coming in/out. I have been here for a week so far and I've not seen the blue King being in service yet. I've seen it sitting in the shed at Paignton station so I'm curious when it will be in service.....
RMweb Premium tanatvalley Posted July 7, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 7, 2018 I rang the railway this week 01803 555872 and was told it would running during the Kingswear beer festival, 13, 14, 15 July. Also see And Alan

I was in Dartmouth when I saw it across the river, leaving Kingswear station, so I was not able to get some photos in time. Cheekypaul
I was reading a book called 'The Newton Abbot to Kingswear Railway' and look at what I've just come across, the same locomotive that's currently visiting the line....

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted July 20, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 20, 2018 For some reason the King is limited to 30 days running through the summer and wasn't in service this week after the weekends run. Photos anon.

RMweb Gold 81C Posted July 22, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2018 As it seems unlikely to go mainline any time soon, maybe they could put the proper chimney, safety valve bonnet and cab back? They need the low kit on it to get it out of Didcot as it's OHL surrounds the site.
