Only if said Pannier has derailed and rolled onto its side.....😇

They do that On Shed so that they have their Under-frame tickled! Saw it many times at Laira.

I still can't get over being called a Hornby hater last week,

I'm not surprised. You are the opposite of a keyboard warrior, seldom rubbishing things or people. I tried in vain to find evidence of your accuser. Knowing his (probably not her!) name would enable me to keep an eye open.

Knowing that you're a bit down of late, here's something to cheer you up. A photo of a sign seen at Bristol TM station. Seems to be doing the rounds on So shall Meeja. Panniers now banned from the station...

If anyone has Points with Accurascale they may get told they are about to be deleted.

I checked mine this morning and ended up only paying £10 for a lovely Maroon Syphon, as I had £48 credit!

Good job I bothered.

ATB all.

I still can't get over being called a Hornby hater last week, so from the archives I've found these photos. Hornby Grange class 6822 Manton Grange heading west on a stopper with some mixed stock which appears to be a pair of repainted Hornby clerestories.

May be worth enquiring of the security forces what fate beholds removed panniers. As president and founder member of the Pannier Protection League, I think it's in your area of interest to find out.

The Supreme Pannier has decided that panniers who were tempted over to join forces with Morgoth can no longer be considered to belong to pannier-kind. As such, they will now forever be considered as members of the LNER...

If anything, you've been a Hornby improver by painting those clerestories wartime brown. By that era there's a good chance of the panelling having been plated over.

Forty years on I still remember being rather disappointed with them and thinking Hornby had missed an opportunity by cheaping out on the panelling and decided I'd stick with the Triang version from ten years before I was born.

I'd have battered my pocket money to buy a set otherwise.

I've often thought it might be an easy win for Hornby to revisit their clerestory carriages and redesign them with the panels moulded in.

A harsh but appropriate punishment under the circumstances.

As I understand it , Ratio were  about to start tooling for GWR clerestories, when they got wind that Hornby were bringing out their own clerestory coaches . So Ratio abandoned their plans .

I’ve never understood why Hornby went for plain but printed sides ( all visible ) but incorporated buffers springs ( invisible).  Especially when they did such a good job with the shorty but panelled Triang ones .
That said , I have several long Hornby clerestories, some repainted in plain brown and some with etched brass sides .

I see Pendon have announced some scenic modelling courses in November. However, they sold out very quickly and I couldn’t get a place in time ☹️. Has anyone been on one? Would you recommend it?

Cheers.

CoY

Very highly recommended, I did the course a few years back and really enjoyed it.  you get a chance to view the vale scene without the glass up as well as a bonus.    I still have the diorama I built on the course (slightly modified) as a scenic plank for photographing models on.

I am hoping the weathering courses also return (and the tree making one)

I cannot believe that the business case for the T3 (20 built, out of service by 1945) stacks up, but the one for a GWR Saint (77 built, out of service by 1953) evidently does not. Hmm.

Maybe Southern modellers do have the most spending power in the OO market!

I can and was expecting this announcement a couple of months back when she was completed.  I hope this means that we get some LSWR Corridors to chuck behind it 🤔
