There was quite a bit of froth and fuss over the cabside plates on these.I've just glued my MJE versions over the top and I think they look fine.

That's good to know......I have the plates ready for mine when it arrives but I am renumbering mine to 1407.......unless I am mistaken the 48xx were used for the Hall oil firing experiment in 1947/8 so the 0-4-2s were renumbered to 14xx

Cheers

I guessed as much hence my carefully worded post. I don't know why I should worry about the rights and wrongs of 14xx when I am eagerly awaiting Kernows 1361 saddle tank. I will be amazed if there are any photos of them ever in North Wales

If you look carefully at that photo above you can just make out Captain Kernow of this parish in the station café. :jester: So anything's possible/plausible.

I believe he still has the sausage as a souvenir.

Very tempting as it's a job I'm dreading. :dontknow:

I'm numbering a Star 4040 Queen Boadicea after SWMBO at this very moment I suggest you start at the buffer and work to the hook if you are using pressfix they are a tad oversize.
