RMweb Gold 81C Posted January 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) Indeed so, mind you it took a slightly different turn when another august member of this parish nearly finished up thumping said spokesman a few minutes later. RMweb Gold Graham_Muz Posted January 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2017 I think the term for those gone wrong cast wheels is Boxpox how stupid is that. I.H.Atemalashite-Green Bulleid Firth Brown to you dear heart. B. Pox The Boxpox wheel was invented and used in USA. Bulleid in collaboration with the Firth Brown foundry came up with their own improved design hence their version being the Bulleid Firth Brown wheel and did not require any royalty or licence payments to Boxpox. RMweb Premium Welchester Posted January 15, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 15, 2017 I suspect any British manufacturer would have avoided naming a product Boxpox.

RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted January 15, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 15, 2017 I knew the 10 Henry Dreyfuss streamlined J3as of New York Central (1938) had Boxpok wheels but was unaware of Bulleid's improvement for his pacifics.

RMweb Premium Northroader Posted January 16, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 16, 2017 (edited) In America, Boxpok drivers were often used when doing an upgrade in the thirties, particularly on 462 and 482 types. You can call them "center disk" if you want. Here's a PRR K4 with a normal spoked leading set, boxpok centres, and a webbed spoke trailing set. RMweb Gold 81C Posted January 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 16, 2017 What an ugly thing that loco' is, it looks as if the engineer tried to put as much weight as possible onto the centre axle to stop the thing from slipping and all pacifics do. Went to buy some items in Wickes today they have now started using the same system as Screwdix suffice to say I came out with only half of the things I wanted.
