RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted October 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Wow, I hadn't realised Larry's skills extended to 12 inches to the foot "models". But why the funny looking coupling? Edited October 15, 2015 by brushman47544
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted October 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 15, 2015 Some real VofR - none of that colour nonsense and overgrown donkey pumps but proper job engines (photo ex my collection) VoR 1960ish.jpg looks a lot better without the "donk"
coachmann
Sorry Rob but I need to plant a blatant OT request to Larry as he reads this lot of #######! Larry, just over two years ago you produced thispost-6680-0-01717300-1371669927.jpg By any chance did it get tucked away somewhere and you would now be able to sell it to me as it is no longer relevant to your layout? Many thanks, Phil I sold it earlier in the year when having a London Midland 'sale'. Sorry. Edited October 15, 2015 by coachmann

RMweb Gold 46444 Posted October 15, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 15, 2015 Lovely shot of your Pannier shunting Robin. I wonder whether there's cider in them barrels from Luscombe's brought up from Buckfastleigh for the Oak or the Pack Horse? The Spooner's and West Devon Hunt have been invited to ride with the South Devon Hunt this forthcoming weekend and an hunt special has been laid on between Tavistock South and Brent for the occasion. Will Brent yard see a few horse boxes being unloaded at the cattle pen? Will the Finching Sister's be able to contain themselves? Cheers, Mark

Now that looks like a cracking do! Three Manors together and to think 7802 was brought for spares IIRC The gathering of ex-Cambrian Railwaymen sounds like it will add to the event as well with many a tale to tell. RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted October 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2015 Oh yes please! I always get a little bowled over by colourising jobs as we're so used to thinking of those days in black and white. Makes you look at it with fresh eyes. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted October 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2015 Morning all, By odd coincidence I had already chosen today's picture before I saw the example of Mr Dean's work above. It is a photo of a colour plate presented 'free' with a contemporaneous issue of 'The Railway Magazine' showing the new GWR engine No.40 designed by Mr Churchward (I have the original wrapped in cellophane hence the shiny nature of the pic).

bgman
Is he a specialist in incontinence, or a specialist incontinent; I wasn't quite sure which you meant? Don't think it really matters when you get to a certain age....... Its a long way from the railway room to the top of the stairs !
coachmann
I too like the colourised Single. The green in those days was very dark indeed and would have looked almost black on a 4mm scale model.

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted October 16, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2015 Rob, how do they compare to Ratio ones? A good question.Much better except to my eyes they look too tall and it put me off buying one last weekend.I need Mike Stationmaster to look at one on the Skytrex stand [Warley ?] for his opinion.I was looking at the platform mounted version.Colin Penfold agreed hence his post.Just need some fresh opinions before committing.
RMweb Premium M.I.B Posted October 16, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2015 I have the Skytrex floor mounted GWR ones. They look perfect against a model, when compared with a relevant photo. I used a couple of shots from the Gloucester Warwickshire (etc) online photo vaults. RMweb Gold Edwardian Posted October 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2015 I really don't think all this talk of water columns is really helping those concerned with incontinence. Just because its on topic for a change is no excuse such a lack of consideration! Flush. Gurgle. Drip, drip. Splash. I have the Mike's Models water columns, and never questioned their fidelity or quality - are they old hat these days, do either of the more recent offerings represent an improvement? I think not - the Mike's models ones all seemed to be very good and I suspect their equal won't arrive until Dave franks starts doing water columns (wouldn't it be great if he did)
