Kev_Lewis
It is not possible to see the GWR on some of the 57s. Ah, but we know it's there!
cary hill
Mmmm, I was never a great fan, I always thought the tenders looked too big for the loco. John I see what you mean. 2251 + ROD = Aesthetic disaster. Edited November 5, 2014 by cary hill

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted November 5, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2014 That photo don't look right the tender is oversize to the loco. I'm more concerned with a lack of correct headlamps and crew......

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted November 5, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2014 How about this French beast coming under the overbridge on ANTB.Taken from Barry Tens blog here, just look at the detail. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/257/entry-15080-on-foreign-metals/
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted November 5, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2014 It does have a certain Swindonesque quality, doesn't it. I bet the French loco cleaners would have loved to have a British loco to maintain though, imagine having to clean all that pipework
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted November 5, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 5, 2014 What a smashing model of a lovely looking locomotive. Tree bonne...monsieur. c'est magnifique, non? Creme de menthe ! Rob
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted November 5, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 5, 2014 In the early 70s I believe you could still find some of these working out of Calais Maritime on 'boat trains'. In the past they were used on the 'Arrow' I think as well. I never liked 'foreign loco's when I were a lad.....how stupid that was. That thing is magnificent. Looks like one of these: http://www.aandhmodels.co.uk/ree-ex-plm-231-pacific-steam-locomotives-1451-c.asp Edited November 5, 2014 by cary hill
Coach bogie
That photo don't look right the tender is oversize to the loco. Doesn't help with the Bachmann using undersized wheels off their Pannier. Mike Wiltshire

RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted November 6, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 6, 2014 Robin, you are far too modest. This is a very fine layout from which you produce some lovely, evocative images. I for one would be extremely proud to own a layout such as this. Well deserved. Hats off to you , kind Sir. Rob.

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted November 7, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 7, 2014 For anyone wondering about the sausage reference see the Bitton thread! Also makes a change from rhinos Not at all. Captain Kernow has been... mentioning... sausages for some considerable time, it appears to be an... interest... of his. Thankfully it appears that he has now started reading a slightly obscure dictionary - at least, that's what I think he's doing...
