kingfisher24
Has anybody by any chance got a gbl t9 running plate - i only need it for the rear steps as i had my kitbash j36 on the dining room table drying over night after further weathering and my wife let my oldest little girl up on the table - the result being that both my altlantic tender and j36 loco ended up on the floor. I no then its not biggi as i can make steps but would be easier.
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted July 19, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 19, 2015 Is this what you are looking for? I have taken the parts I need off it (mostly the boiler, cab and fittings) so the rest is yours for the price of the postage if you wish.
Horsetan
That footplate could go usefully with an original boiler to make an early Drummond T9. Might have a spare boiler from a Finney kit.
RMweb Premium Brit70053 Posted July 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2015 Does anyone know if the Ivatt 2MT Tank has arrived in stores/ newsagents today? Its strange there's been little recent anticipation of this issue. Perhaps the late arrival of Lord Nelson last Wednesday has caused us collectively to overlook the proper schedule ? Il Grifone
Well she isn't exactly the most exciting issue in the collection. I'm undecided whether to get one or not.
RMweb Gold Hroth Posted July 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2015 I'll be popping down to my local pusher Sainsburys to see if I can score buy one this morning. Its something that can go at the back of a shed scene, esp grimed up with puzzled fitters prodding about at the motion... Agreed its not as glamorous as a BGE* but it'll do, esp when you think about how much a working model, or even a "needs fixing" example costs! * Big Green Engine
WD0-6-0
I agree, there doesn't seem to be many people excited about the Ivatt but I am, They're very good looking locos and I'd rather have one of these for £8.99 than spend £15 or more on a split chassis that fails a few months down the line (after all, once its failed I'll have paid extra for what is essentially the same). I may get too, one to leave as is and one to become the BR STD version
RMweb Premium Brit70053 Posted July 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 22, 2015 Well, The Ivatt was available at my Newsagent and while its true its not a Big Glamorous Engine, this is a pretty goood take on the Bachmann Ivatt 2MT Tank. Obviously missing the Motion Support Bracket and the Glazing is a bit odd on my sample, but other than a bit of inconsistent density on the lining, this is one that could easily be weathered a little and not look out of place as a shed filler on a layout IMHO. Pictures attached. Regards, John

Il Grifone
Well she isn't exactly the most exciting issue in the collection. I'm undecided whether to get one or not. Needless to say, I couldn't resist the siren call and the lone example came home with me............. The number is slightly skew and there's a rather obvious join between tank and cab and yet again the motion is non functional (as in wouldn't work at all, as opposed to just static - not too bad though). It was probably too much to expect 9 spoke pony wheels.
RMweb Gold Hroth Posted July 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2015 Normally, there's only one dogeared example when I drop in to sample the GBL offering at my local Sainsburys. But today? TWO! Don't know if another shopper saw it and decided that it was too dull, or if the shop had a rush of blood to the head and marked 2 instead of 1 on their weekly orders.... Of course it would have been unkind to split twins..... *evil grin* One could end up looking like the photo on page 3 of the mag! (And the other as the one on the bottom of page 6.) So we've just got the Peppercorn and the Class 47 to look forward to (and perhaps a "Locomotion"...)
Ruffnut Thorston
I have managed to get hold of one Ivatt Tank.... Photos below show the GBL (BR Livery) and a Bachmann Example missing the steps (LMS Livery, weathered a bit). The main problem to fit a Bachmann chassis is that the cab sides are double-thickness! Some surgery will be required to remove the inside layer.... EDIT: Actually, due to some GBL "release agent" or similar, and a small applicaion of glue to the cab-sides, the cab has just prised off using a flat knife blade carefully... This leaves the extra layer easier to get at...though the body will now be in 3 pieces. Boiler and tanks, Cab, and Bunker. There will possibly also need to be a bit of surgery to the front inside, to let the Bachmann weight fit inside the smokebox... EDIT ENDS: The back "pole" can take a bit of the firebox top with it.. so a little filler needed here...or more care? The GBL cab is glazed fore and aft...the cab-side windows on the Bachmann model were in the detailing bag...with the steps, so are missing from my LMS model as well.... Bachmann On The Left... GBL GBL Bachmann Bachmann GBL Bachmann Bachmann to the Left... The GBL on the Base. Short Base. Chimneys, etc compared.... GBL Fixing Screws...2 out of 3 here.. The rear pony truck needs to come off to reveal the 3rd Fixing Screw. (Note the slot copied from the Bachmann model...) GBL body inside and chassis top... GBL Boiler Backhead detail... GBL body inside 2 Bachmann (top) and GBL body inside. The Screwdriver points to the double thickness cab-sides. Some surgery required to remove the inside layer here! Actually, due to some GBL "release agent" or similar, and a small applicaion of glue to the cab-sides, the cab has just prised off using a flat knife blade carefully... This leaves the extra layer easier to get at...though the body will now be in 3 pieces. Boiler and tanks, Cab, and Bunker. Horsetan
Could get away with sticking a Comet chassis under that, same as with the BR Std. 4MT tank clone.
darrel
Just got mine I have 3 of each issue on order from my local newsagents when I opened the box there were 4 inside. I will let him know tomorrow. The photos above and all 4 of mine have the number on the drivers side squint. Other than that it's a nice model and for those who are going to renumber them it won't be much of an issue. RMweb Gold Hroth Posted July 22, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2015 If you're not going to immediately dissect the poor wee thing, check that the buffers are firmly affixed. The rear offside buffer on both of mine have fallen off. Luckily one was in the packaging, the other came away in my fingers. The other three are fine...
Ruffnut Thorston
Well, the extra layer has been removed. The front end has been attacked inside to clear the front of the chassis...some minor holes to fill, the vertical bit below the smokebox gets thin.... The front of the cab has been trimmed a bit to clear the chassis weights. The bunker has had the coal removed. It will need a platic card base to fit the Bachmann Screws, and some coal... This is turning out to be a quite simple job.... (Famous Last Words Department advised! )
Ruffnut Thorston
Apart from filler, coal in the bunker, and touching up the paintwork (stray red paint syndrome, and the buffer beams could be repainted!) the job is about done... Photos.... The Front of the cab...with bits cut away. Back of the cab. Nothing needs to be cut away here... Bunker with double thickness removed and coal cut away... The firebox end of the body with double thickness removed. Front end with modifications... EDIT: The front end has now had additional modifications to fit the Bachmann Chassis better. There is a "tab" on th efront of the chassis that fits into a recess on the Bachmann body. This holds the front end down. To replicate this, the front end of the GBL body has had two layers of approx. 1mm Plastic card glued in place. There is already a ledge of about this thickness to butt the first layer against... The final third layer forms the ledge on top of the "tab" on the Bachmann chassis, and needs to be fitted carefully to fit! This stops the front of the body lifting a bit, as there is some "slop" otherwise. EDIT ENDS... Bunker and Cab glued together...I have re-used parts of the GBL extra sides to "splint" the joint, using the GBL lugs on the back of the cab. Parts put together on the chassis for testing fit... The fixing parts for the Bachmann Screws are cut off from two of the GBL fixing "poles", glued to a plastic card base. A false bottom for the bunker added...and a back for the cab! Steps from the GBL fitted to the Bachmann chassis. Two holes drilled to take the GBL lugs, and super-glued in place. The Bachmann Chassis with the backhed detail painted a bit... More parts fall off of the GBL chassis! Edited July 25, 2015 by Sarahagain
Jock67B
There were two 2-6-2T's in WHS Clacton on Sea when I returned from holiday late this afternoon -there is only one now if anyone is interested! Both looked OK with buffers attached! Brilliant work Sarah, well worth copying, thank you. Kind regards, Jock.

Its strange there's been little recent anticipation of this issue. Perhaps the late arrival of Lord Nelson last Wednesday has caused us collectively to overlook the proper schedule ? It arrived in South Yorkshire "on-time" - must admit I for one, was expecting it to be late after the Lord Nelson debacle!! Ruffnut Thorston
More Photos... The additional plastic parts to hold the front end down. The complete body shell underside. cypherman
Hi all, Well this thread will be nearly finished as we seem to be coming to an end of the series. I shall be sorry to see it end. This thread has rekindled my love of 00 railways and has started me off in rebuilding mine. If only in little steps to start with. Well in seeing all these loco's being repainted and modernised etc. I thought damn it time i started to try something. My skills are old and rusty so I took 2 loco's that had basically been consigned to the scrap box and thought, "lets see what kind of mess i can make". Here is the result of my efforts. The H-D N2 still requires spraying with Matt varnish and glass being puy in the windows. The old ex GWR Hornby pannier(As in 30 years old) is as finished as I want it to be. I thank you all for all the inspiration you have given me. Cypherman Edited July 25, 2015 by cypherman
