Gareth Collier
There were two engineering examples in grey plastic in Dapol's display case at TINGS today. Looked very nice. Gareth
Atso
There were two engineering examples in grey plastic in Dapol's display case at TINGS today. Looked very nice. Gareth Not only that Gareth, but at least one of them was a running example. Very nice and was hauling five coaches when I saw it... However, it was eclipsed by the fully liveried valanced A4 that was trundling around a bit later! Edited September 13, 2015 by Atso
Rusty.J
That looks well detailed!!!
Les1952
Two pics of the schools. The one in the display case. the other one was running very smoothly back and forth on the Sheaf Valley Railway layout. I can't justify one on Hawthorn Dene, but 30925 DID haul a special through Croft Spa. Given the due date is 2nd Quarter 2016 I'll be able to test the new layout with it in Spring 2017. RMweb Gold TomE Posted September 21, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2015 Now that looks lovely. I suspect I will need to modify a Tonbridge to represent Cheltenham in its preserved form though since Dapol haven't been specific in the exact scheme details as far as I'm aware. Tom. Mr chapman
Anyone get a picture of the decorated sample? I'll be your friend
RMweb Gold TomE Posted November 28, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 28, 2015 A couple of photos of the one painted sample on display. For me it does capture the look of these engines well, although I think the Dapol lining on this livery is a tad on the bright side. Tom.
Gareth Collier
Dapol do like their lining bright white and over wide don't they! On another subject I like the look of the K&ESR Terrier in the back ground. I was about to repaint one into this livery so glad I spotted it. Mr chapman
Cheers for that! I like the livery, southern number on br black. Are those terriers specials do you know?
RMweb Gold MikeParkin65 Posted November 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2015 Cheers for that! I like the livery, southern number on br black. ? Apart from the spurious livery\ number combination the tender lining is wrong in following the tender shaper rather then being an oblong panel and the rear panel is incorrectly lined out - should of course be plain. Les1952
Hopefully someone will have pointed the tender lining out to Joel or Andy. That is the purpose of displaying it after all. Les
Karhedron
Apart from the spurious livery\ number combination the tender lining is wrong in following the tender shaper rather then being an oblong panel and the rear panel is incorrectly lined out - should of course be plain. Most of the examples I have seen had a rectangular lining panel on the tender but not all.

bingley hall
Apart from the spurious livery\ number combination ....... I hope they have got that one sorted - that is how it has been being advertised "921 with early BR crest"
OFFTHE RAILS
The livery of the Dapol sample is typical of the early BR lined black repaints at Eastleigh but those painted at Ashford had the smaller rectangular lining with a small crest. The latter scheme became more or less standard for the Schools as the 50s rolled on. Ian
Mr chapman
I hope they have got that one sorted - that is how it has been being advertised "921 with early BR crest" I like it as it is. I'll take one in that combo right now.
bingley hall
I hope they have got that one sorted - that is how it has been being advertised "921 with early BR crest" 'Sorted' apparently.
grahame
The Dapol BR/SR Schools class 4-4-0 is due for launch in Jan/Feb according to their latest advert (NGSJ1/16) so should be hitting the shops very soon. Has anyone got confirmation or further details? G.
Mr chapman
The release date on ehattons has changed to JAN/MAR without any fan fair. Fits your estimate.
RMweb Gold TomE Posted January 27, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) I thought we might have seen a few more painted samples by now if release is that close. Tom. Edited January 27, 2016 by TomE
Gordon D
Dapol have a full page advert in the latest copy of the N Gauge Journal (1/16) advertising that 4 versions (BR Black late crest, Malachite lined green, BR black small early crest and Manusal Green) of the Schools class will be released during January / February. So I would say they are just about to leave the factory or might even be on the boat. Regards, Gordon_D
Karhedron
Glad to hear they have decided to do a Maunsell green one to match their coaches. 2 Malachite ones with no matching stock seemed and odd choice.
