Grimleygrid
After yesterday's successful test of the LED holder, this afternoon I decided to crack on and get the holders built for roads 5 and 13. The glue is now setting and these should be ready tomorrow.

Grimleygrid
Thanks, Happy New Year David. Thanks David, I am pleased with how they have turned out. Some trial and error with a bit of a change of approach but we seem to have got there in the end. I suppose that is the fun of modelling!
Grimleygrid
This afternoon I have been having a play with the inspection pit lights and in particular the LED holder. The other day when I first offered up the holder it was done quickly, so earlier I decided to try and get it sitting higher up to allow the LEDs to be positioned at a better height. After a bit of adjustment, I think the holder is now sitting at the correct height in relation to the board and the inspection pit lights. The LEDs are now sitting in a better position and this can be seen by the amount of light passing through the inspection pit lights. Good job we have a dimmer as the LEDs need dimming! I will post some photos later. The two holders for roads 5 and 13 are now ready. Grimley Senior will now make another dimmer which will control both the inspection pit lights for these two roads. image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr

Shedmaster
Hi Alex, I'm very much liking your pit lights and think the brightness is just 'right'. Well done mate, an inspiration as usual.... Kindest Regards, Shed.

Grimleygrid
Hi Mr Shedmaster, many thanks I am glad that you like them. It has taken a while to get them to this stage so I am pleased with both the results and also to have them nearly finished. Another difficult project almost completed, which is a relief as I seem to have been working on it for ages! This hobby does test you at times! Happy New Year Peter, thanks. I hope to make a start on the depot floor this month. The plan is to get the floor down and weathered over the next few months. Hope so, I need to start playing trains!Nice to see some Railfreight arrivals at Llanbourne, especially the 58!

Grimleygrid
Hi Class60lover, Happy New Year. I think it may be a culmination of the two! Father Christmas obviously agreed that I had been a good boy! I am pleased with my 58s, especially as they are in Original Railfreight, nice! No problem, I hope they were okay for you. After looking at them last night, I am very pleased. Far better than I had hoped for! Many thanks and all the best to you.
Grimleygrid
Thanks and Happy New Year Jinty, I am pretty pleased with the pits and lights. It has taken a while but very happy with the result. Go for it! I considered getting another Coal sector one, 045 I think it is, but decided on the Original Railfreight livery ones. Prefer them in that livery! Good choice 010. I think that was the only large name plate one. I found a video which you might be interested in on YouTube last night, will post on your thread later. Grimleygrid
You lucky so and so Mr Pitbull, I would love to be there! And with all those 60s too...lovely! Thanks for posting the photos. I see you were sat adjacent the rear of the shed. Looking at the latest 60 gen lists there have been a few failures over the past couple of days. Toton will be busy sorting them out! Which 60s did you get haulage by? I am very jealous of your trip! Enjoy Sir and thanks for the photos.
pitbull1845
We currently have 60071 one end and 67015 providing ETH. Earlier we had 60092 & 67016. There were certainly quite a few red 60's at the depot!
Grimleygrid
Ribblehead Viaduct in EWS livery, nice! According to TOPS earlier, there would have been 5 at Toton and another couple on their way. Not sure if any of them would have been inside the shed though. Grimleygrid
I am beginning to think that may be I am becoming obsessed with the pit lights, it could be my OCD kicking in again! Yesterday evening I had a fiddle with the lights. First of all I dimmed them down, looking at the last set of photos you could see the light coming through the pit wall due to some LEDs being too close and bright. Then I had a look at the height of the LEDS. Whilst the holder was positioned just underneath the board, some of the LEDs were sitting too low. Using one of the LEDs that was at the right height and giving the best light through the inspection pit light frame, I then adjusted the rest of them to match that particular one. This made a big difference to the light passing through the pit lights, and also the whole look of the pit. Now I need to work out the distance that the LEDs need to sit from the outer edge of the pit wall. If they sit too close the light is too bright and if too far away, they are too dim. Once this has been sorted I can then get the LEDs fixed in the correct position on the holder. I will post a few photos later.
Grimleygrid
Apologies in advance for more boring photos of inspection pits and inspection pit lights.....
