Grimleygrid
Thanks Dave. It is starting to come together. I am hoping that over the next couple of months that I will make decent progress. I would like to have the depot pretty much finished by the end of the summer to allow me to move on to the next board. But, we shall see!
Grimleygrid
Thanks Andy. I am very pleased with how the pits have turned out. Thanks Neil. I am sure Cav will sort you out with a few of them!
Grimleygrid
In between taxi duties yesterday evening, I managed to find a few minutes to start measuring up for the next pieces of the depot floor. This meant getting out the wheel lathe pit, I cannot believe that it is over three years since I was working on the wheel lathe. How time flies. I really do need to get cracking on this project! A few photos for Mr Crisis Rail: image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr This evening I hope to get the measuring finished and then get the artwork started in preparation for getting the pieces laser cut. Once the floor is down properly, I can then get the wheel lathe weathered and installed with the relevant detailing bits and bobs.

Grimleygrid
Hi Scott, thanks. I am very pleased with how it is coming on. I might have to run a Rail Tour which can then stop on the fueling point!
Grimleygrid
Yesterday evening I completed the measuring for the rest of the depot floor pieces: image by AP474, on Flickr I found a couple of nice photos of Toton which I thought I would share: 549-8 56008 Toton 02021992 by Doctor Majuba, on Flickr 58036 230390 by John Neave, on Flickr What about this for a collection of traction! Grimleygrid
Yesterday evening I managed to find a few minutes for some modelling albeit preparation for the artwork for the next set of laser cut parts.Whilst on the computer I came across three photos from my visit to Toton back in Febuary 1988 which I do not believe have been posted. So here they are: First of all a shot taken from the footpath the leads to the depot from the canal. This was our first sight of the depot: image by AP474, on Flickr This is an area of the depot that I will be working on once the floor is down. The admin building directly to the rear of the dead end roads is something that I need to spend some time on. A few years ago I prepared a drawing of this building but need to revisit this before finally getting the parts laser cut. A typical Toton scene with 58s on shed: image by AP474, on Flickr And finally, a nice Romanian 56 in Coal: image by AP474, on Flickr I am looking forward to recreating this sort of scene at the rear of Boxenby. Now that I have completed the measuring, I need to get the artwork finished. Hopefully I can find some time later to make a start on this.

class60lover
You not thinking of getting a 31 Grimley. Not the right era? Used to love them passing through Berkhampstead all be it in the Dutch livery
Grimleygrid
Thanks Neil, glad to hear that my modelling helps someone! I can definitely recommend laser cutting, give it a go. You won’t be disappointed!I have had a lot of things laser cut over the past few years and I have been really pleased with the results. Lots of possibilities too! Hi Class60lover, I already have two! Both in Red Stripe Railfreight. I plan to get a few BR Blue 31s including a 31/4 as well as a couple of Original Railfreight ones. Not sure about Dutch ones as yet, might get a plain grey one. This is what I have in mind: 31252-(2)_filtered by Captain Caveman`s Railway Pictures, on Flickr It survived well into the early 90s, as can be seen here from this photo of it at Toton in 1994: https://flic.kr/p/jbgZ7p Yesterday I picked up a nice book from Waterstones, so after taxi duties had finished, I sat down and had a look: photo(2) by AP474, on Flickr I can thoroughly recommend it!
mason
I might have to invest in that book too, i noticed a thread on here called class 20s and there are some really good pics in the thread, i will get the link unless you are already following it Alex. Grimleygrid
After finishing off the artwork for the next set of pieces for the depot floor I decided to go and take a few photos. Over the weekend I had been looking at photos on Flickr of class 45s, so out came one of my Bachmann one, sorry Ian! I wanted to see how a Peak looked with the floor in place. image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr Quite nice I think! image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr image by AP474, on Flickr My obsession with class 58s is continuing, I just love them in that livery! image by AP474, on Flickr
P.C.M
The floor is looking very nice Alex, and the Peak looks right at home. On my visit in 86 their would have been as many Peaks as class 58s. Cheers Peter.
Grimleygrid
Hi Peter, thanks I am really pleased with the floor and it isn't even finished yet! I agree the Peak does look at home, it reminds me of this photo on Flickr: https://flic.kr/p/bncvPb Your visit must have been just before the Peaks got transferred to Tinsley. Were they swapped with Tinsley's 56s? Sorry cannot remember!

class60lover
I have 3 58s myself in coal livery but I'm beginning to see what u mean by the old paint work. I'm showing my age but I don't remember ever seeing a 45. My dad talks about them a lot and he was a big fan. Love all your photos

Thanks David, it is nice to get a few locos out and take some photos. Will look better once the floor is down properly and the shed is in position.
