JWB
Into the 1960s, US railroads did a lot of mail and express business, and the holiday rush was a busy period for mail and parcels. For whatever reason, this traffic has never had a whole lot of interest from modelers. I've been working to incorporate this type of operation into my layout, although the pace has been slow -- I certainly have the equipment to do it, it's just a question of putting all the pieces together. Here's an Atlantic Coast Line S-2 switching an express reefer and some box express cars at my main terminal: My family sometimes spent the Christmas holidays with relatives in Florida, and we'd drive down from New Jersey. When I was really young, I got to see ACL purple-and-silver on the way.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted December 20, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 20, 2012 That's a great livery that Purple and silver. Β I picked up a gauge 1 USA train NW2 in that livery from a shop just east of Orlando back in the 90's and it got quite a bit of attention carrying it onto the plane home to the UK!
