RMweb Gold JCL Posted November 17, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 17, 2015 Hi Adrian, I like exactly everything in each of the pictures you've put up there. You can't beat real sunlight for photos and proper shadows.

David Todd
Your last 2 post's, in natural daylight shew how good your modelling skill's are. Has it really been 6.month's, since you built the platform ? I seem to be in a time warp, with little progress
RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted November 22, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 22, 2015 At last the Westerham Flyer can stop at Chevening Halt and any passengers can use the train with safety. Some pictures best describe what has been happening since March, when the balsa wood platform was built, and the cardboard waiting room constructed. All that is left to do is some stones and rubbish under the platform and some weeds to bed it in.

Andrew P
Hi Al, Thanks for your comments, and I am sure others would like to see how Westerham, Brasted and Chevening are today 54 years on. So do not look at these pictures if you are of a nervous disposition. All the best Adrian. Sorry, I CANT bring myself to post a Like for this one mate, shame as your original pics are how I remember my youth, and I prefer those memories.

Could I ask one of your porter chappies to have a look underneath the platform for my season ticket that slipped through one of the gaps in the platform this morning, as soon as possible please as I have an appointment with an old school chum of mine Richard in town this week, as he is looking for a well paid job just now as he is unhappy at Imperial Chemical Industries and fancies a well paid job on the railways... Kevin Hi Kevin, was is it down one of these gaps. If we can't find it, he will have to ride on the footplate. I sure his work experience at Imperial Chemical Industries will help him create a big stink in his new job. All the best Adrian.

RMweb Gold JCL Posted November 24, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2015 HI Adrian Would you be able to do me a favour and tell me about your ballasting? Did you just shake two colours together, or did you do something tricky? Also, do you use a particular type of ballast? It looks so effective. cheers Jason
RMweb Gold westerhamstation Posted November 24, 2015 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2015 HI Adrian Would you be able to do me a favour and tell me about your ballasting? Did you just shake two colours together, or did you do something tricky? Also, do you use a particular type of ballast? It looks so effective. cheers Jason Hi Jason, It's all done with the aid of the Brasted Ballaster with added toothbrush, and a secret mix of ballast which I will tell you about as long as you don't tell any one else. Take 1 bag of Woodlands scenics medium dark brown ballast, a third of a bag Woodlands scenics medium buff ballast pour into a containter and shake until thoroughly mixed, or until you get bored. Fill your Brasted Ballaster with the mix and off you go. When you have tamped it all down and glued it and got it all tidied up, I just pour some of the medium buff up to the shoulder and glue it, and then when that is dry run some very watered down burnt umber poster pain along the edge of that. All the best Adrian.
marc smith
Looking fabulous! There's something to be said for the simplicity of approach and design.Almost the bare minimum of railway "real estate" - but this is understated and natural lookingBrilliant

RMweb Gold JCL Posted November 25, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 25, 2015 That's great - and straightforward to boot. Thankyou very much for that Adrian. People have often said to go with fine ballast for OO, so it's interesting to see that the medium makes such a good job of things.
