Well. it wasn't a crater when they were all huddled together there...

I put it to you, ladies & gentlemen, that Charles Turner, e-mail, is American.

describing a crater as being 10km wide... I don't think so!

Perhaps Charles Turner is an Australian? We use the metric system and we have many Climate Change deniers, who use similar arguments to 'prove' that CC is BS!

That almost looks like it was taken at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore; with the ghost of the Key Bridge* in the distance. Almost; as it has been a long while since I have visited the Fort. The cannon# are what makes me think that.

*Just a bit north (Baltimore side) of the Key Bridge is (was?) a blue buoy that approximated the location of the vessel that Francis Scott Key was on when he wrote the Star-Spangled Banner (little did he know that there would be a whole lot more stars added!). I wonder how he saw the flag still flying, even with a god 'scope; it is quite a long distance. I once worked on a COE survey boat and we passed the buoy many times. I did ask Bud (the captain) if we could pause at the buoy so I could look at the Fort with a pair of binoculars. It gave me some thoughts about the whole event.

#Those cannon in the photo post-date the English bombardment of the Fort by a number of years. Both sides used them in the War of Northern Aggression, the Confederacy had captured a few Union forts..
