“Stringline!”

One of my sons walked most of the ex-British Columbia Railway mainline after it was taken over by CN, recording the geological and civil engineering features in CN terms for entry into an existing CN database. The guys from his company had a CN ‘minder’ with them. His instructions on what to do while a train passed on the single track were to stand on the inside of a curve if the train was going downhill, and on the outside of a curve if the train was going uphill.

Not long after CN took over, partly as a result of incorrect marshalling of a train, and partly because of an assisting engine back in the train running in reverse(!), a freight stringlined and dumped a couple of cars of caustic soda into a salmon-bearing river. Not good news!

The reverse of this happened to me. My wife was out and I spent the day painting ceiling and walls.

When she got home, she promptly complained that I hadn't done the dishes!

"Putting Baby to Bed" can be done in a drawer if a cot is not available, but ideally the drawer is removed completely and put somewhere safe before placing the baby in it...

In Finland every Mother is given a box, provided by the Government, containing a baby starter kit; blankets, bottle, steriliser, nappies, dummy, blankets, mattress, the lot.  Matress & blanky fit the box, which serves as cot/bed.  These become treasured heirlooms, and an integral part of Finnish life.

This is going to confuse whoever is doing the testing. Zero Amps on everything tested!

The place where I copied it from, the first comment says 'Sorry, I don't understand your PoV',

Perhaps, it might help if they were plugged in somewhere - or maybe not?

OK it's political, but generalised, I thought it funny.

'Gentlemen songsters out for a spree

damned from here to eternity

Lord, have mercy on such as we

Baa, Baa, Baa'.

Or, possibly, 'Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream

Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream

(the dream, the dream the dream, the dream the dream)'.

Should you ever doubt that our ovine cousins are a Borg-like collective plotting the overthrow and enslavement of humanity and lulling us into a false sense of security with their constant acts of suicidal stupidity and 'gentle' natures, just look into one's eyes.  It's black, pitiless, dead eyes, and be afraid, be a very fraid.  When I'm in power, every shepherd will be equipped with a sub-machine gun, just in case...

Given my 'mean inner-city streets' locality, and desire for more trains, yes, quite easily.

Every time one of the politicians comes on the telly to tell us how good life will be under their tenure I think of the Muppets and "Pigs in Space"

Oink Oink!
