It's difficult to work out the construction timelines, as the angled support appears to go through the cladding, but the light green weathering is clearly affected by the position of the steps.
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted May 15 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 15 It doesn't quite look like the sort of environment that would endear itself to posh lasses naming boats to me, but then, what would I know about posh lasses except that they say they are arriving.

And the Ford-built versions were better than Rolls Royce's own version, because Ford car manufacturing tolerances were better than Rolls Royce's hand-crafted tolerances. Edsel Ford (son of Henry) had agreed to build Rolls Royce aero engines in the USA but was overruled by his father who was a prominent isolationist, and allegedly an admirer of Hitler. US production of the Merlin was therefore contracted to another (then) prominent car maker, Packard, who completely retooled it for mass production, thereby producing them several times faster than RR could manage and with greater consistency. Ford USA later did get involved in the war effort, producing vast numbers of B25 Mitchell bombers in a huge factory specifically constructed for the purpose.
