Luckily, I'm extremely feline-resistant.

Now, if it were a cute doggie....

I think I might know the owner…

Or maybe the cute doggie belongs to this gentleman:

A can't of coke...

Before ring-pull cans were invented, that's how drinks cans came.  I've still got drink can openers that punch a triangular hole in the top of the can. You punch two holes opposite each other, one to drink from, and one to let air in as you drink.  Or you can stick a straw in the hole...

Just had a letter from the Council about the electoral roll. (The same one as usual)

It struck me the wording on the front is a bit silly

"Do Not Ignore This Letter" (their bold)

"Only reply if there is a change in the Household"

In other words most recipients must Ignore  it!🙄

Anyone remember the very short lived push button opening?

I think they took off elsewhere, especially Australia, but not in the UK. ISTR they were awful to drink from.

I remember them over here also. They did not last too long. They were perfect for using a straw, though.

I remember them being on Coke and 7 UP. But I was racking my brains what beer had them that we used to drink in clubs and music venues in the mid 1980s (never drank the draft as it was awful, probably watered down and they never cleaned the lines).

It was Breaker. Headache inducing stuff made by Coors I believe. Always ended up with the hangover from hell with that stuff....

They didn't last long because too many kids stuck their fingers in the hole and ended up with bad cuts. Myself included!

Yes, I remember them well, as long as you ignored the instructions!

If the can had been shaken even slightly, opening the small hole first, guaranteed that you would end up with a fountain going everywhere - kids loved it when handing friends a can!

So if you were suspicious that it had been shaken (good practice anyway) ALWAYS press the large button first. When the pressure is released a larger hole won't be as violent.

I was told this by a friend who had a family member working at the can makers. After learning to press the larger button first, I never once had an issue.

Tapping the sides of a possibly shaken can will cause gas bubbles to rise to the surface of the contained liquid, reducing or even eliminating the fountain effect.

Allegedly....
