Nah, it's still a roll as in 'a roll an chips', a roll an sausage, a roll an egg. Ask anyone North 'o' the border.

Hey I'm hungry now.

Dave Franks.

Chip roll? Nah, sounds daft, chip cob!

Sausage roll? Well that one's self explanatory, sausage meat wrapped in pastry, otherwise a sausage cob!

Egg roll just sounds like some odd Easter tradition, but egg cob.....

Next you'll be telling us you eat corn rolls rather than corn cobs:-)

Corn (on the) cob has the corn on the outside,

you eat the corn and discard the (inedible) cob!

So, do you really wrap the chips/sausage/egg

around the 'cob', confirming that it is not really

'fit for human consumption'?

Gents, the (in)famous Dutch cuisine presents: the Kapsalon:

Our Canadian friends would match that with poutine.

Similarly popular ballast for a hard night out, the colder the weather the better.

It may be Canadian, but sorry, no maple syrup, eh.
