Grimleygrid
Over the weekend I paid a visit to Grimley, it has been a while since I ran trains but after spending the past few years working on Boxenby it was nice to actually play. Although my eldest son was in control........but I did get to drive a couple of trains! I took a couple of videos, first of all 60018 heads north with loaded BLI JGAs; http://youtu.be/ef3aUsKH7e4 60018 heads south with empty Iron Ore tipplers, this should have been GWR green 60081 but this had failed with low power! http://youtu.be/pufKQ8uLtE0 Unfortunately I ran out of time so couldn't video the TEAs ot HAAs. Next time......

0O00
Hi Alex Is there a reason why I can't play the videos (or even see a preview of them)? Presume there is something amiss with my settings? Anyway, welcome back, Grimley-the-layout! Still got the photos of Mirlees Pioneer stabled on Grimley somewhere... i'll dig them out. Grimleygrid
Hi Andy, hope all is well. Hopefully we can catch up at Warley again this year. Hi Ian, it has been a long time.....it was good to run some trains again! Indeed CR, Bonkers and it is expensive......also Mrs. Grimley works in the accounts department which often causes problems. I have to submit a business case for budget approval!!! Sometimes that is not always possible!... Thanks Scott, cannot believe how long it has been since we last visited. It is nice to be able to run scale length trains. Hi Alex, not sure what the problem is? Hope you have managed to see the videos. Would love to see the photos if you can find them. You will like one of the videos below! My eldest has just taken delivery of your EWS 08! Thanks David. Thanks to you all for the kind comments, by popular demand I have a few more videos........ Went down to Grimley yesterday to see if there was anything going on and I didn’t have to wait very long..... 56006 heads North light engine; http://youtu.be/ZqO0Ub0sZmg Corus liveried 60006 heads south on empty iron ore tipplers; http://youtu.be/ptKeot_0U08 Not sure if it was Grimley or Boxenby depot fitters that resolved the low power issue with 60081 but she seemed okay when passing yesterday on HEA coke; http://youtu.be/_QKVSRHTyjU 56006 heads slowly south with empty HAAS; http://youtu.be/d8b92hOxYvE 60047 heads north with loaded TEA bogie tanks, nice to see a Brush beast doing what they were designed to do; http://youtu.be/SfUbuofzoNg All in all a very worthwhile visit, next time I will video some sprinter and HST action as well. lyneux
Yum - I do like a bit of freight (so much for the Sprinter and HST!). A quick question: whose transfers did you use on your iron ore hoppers? I'm particularly interested in the blue rectangular panels (which I assume are the Marcroft Engineering information panels?). Looks like you've re-bogied them too? Guy
Grimleygrid
Hi Guy, me too! Apologies to all our sprinter and HST fans out there, I forgot to take video of the passenger traffic....... You are quite correct the transfers are the Marcroft Engineering Information Panels, I had them made up as colour dry rub-down transfers. I still have the artwork if you are interested? The bogies came with the kit and whilst not being an expert on bogies (!!!!), believe they are FBT10? Or is it FBT6? Any how they are correct for the PTA/JUA used on the Immingham to Scunthorpe workings. The later ones used on the other routes (Port Talbot to Llanwern and those to Ravenscraig), I believe the ones you have superbly modelled as ARC wagons had different bogies. But I am by no means an expert and I am sure someone on RMweb with superior knowledge will be able to correct me. Hope that helps.

Grimleygrid
i cant see any videos or pictures either Oh dear! Sorry to hear that Ess1UK, I am not sure how to resolve the issue....perhaps a member with better knowledge of IT can help. pitbull1845
Nice set of videos as usual, I love the length of some of those freights. Have a word with the 37 driver in the last clip though, i'm sure that was a SPAD. Keep up the good work Grimley family.

Grimleygrid
Oops, sorry Scott! I will have a word..... When Bachmann released their BAA wagon a couple of years ago I missed out as they sold out very quickly and I was a little disappointed, especially having bought the Rail Express 37501 and 502. When I heard that Bachmann were due to release a second batch there would be no missing out this time round! The Lackenby to Corby Tubeliner has always been a favourite of mine, pairs of Thornaby 37/5s on a nice rake of steel wagons, quality! I remember standing on Langley Mill station seeing the loaded and empties thunder through, superb! Last week I managed to get some of these wagons and I have to say that I am very impressed with them. A lovely model, well done Bachmann my Cambrian kits can now retire gracefully. Yesterday I visited Grimley to give them a run and let 37506 and 514 stretch their legs. A couple of videos; First of all Thornaby’s 37/5s; <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NNsGchERavc?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Although a Metals 60 would have been better, 60062 still looked pretty good in my opinion! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K-k08qJDz18?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> They ran very well indeed and even behind the class 60 which normally has issues with the coupling but no such problems with 062. I just need to weather them now..........might be a while before that happens!

P.C.M
Hi Alex, Not sure how I missed the return of Grimley, it's great to see it back in action again. I am not suprised Bachmann had to do a re run of the BAAs if people out there are buying 20 at a time. lol Cheers Peter.

rs4
Hello Grimley Thought I'd pay you a visit... Loving the "scale length" trains - makes it all the more realistic for me. Have a set of the Lima ore wagons - troublesome trucks - mine need some work to get them running right. More vids...please ! Nick
Grimleygrid
Hi Nick, thanks I will try and take some more video soon. I managed to find a few photos taken at Grimley back in 1991 which Cav (RBE) might quite like; 37707 stabled at Grimley Inside Grimley TMD Working empty HAAs The last I heard was that she was on route to Boxenby........ Thanks again Cav, superb Tractor, hope you like the photos.
