In. many respects an excellent reflection of some of the best design standards of its time and the badges were beautifully recreated in full colour (I think they were stove enamelled?). I recall working a Padd - Bristol relief one Saturday in July '84 with a steam heat 47, the weather was atrocious and on arrival at Temple Meads the guard told us that most of the Mk1 stock was leaking steam profusely and the passengers were not happy bunnies! I did my boiler training at Stratford Works with fellow Old Oak secondman (woman!) Fiona Johns over two days in November '83 and was probably amongst the last to do so.
