I can't comment on the fashions but the line map behind them shows the Heathrow Terminal 4 loop and T4 station. Terminal 4 opened in 1986. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted August 20, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2020 It is common practice in some communities for the women to cover their heads in public. The ladies in the photograph wearing head scarfs could well be from such a community.

RMweb Gold ruggedpeak Posted September 9, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 9, 2020 Reading (probably) at some point in the 80's.
RMweb Gold The Pilotman Posted September 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) Some lovely details in that picture. It is Reading for sure; on the middle line between the old down and up relief lines (platforms 8&9) and probably waiting to take over the next cross country train. On the left of the picture you can see the TRTS and RA buttons for platform 9 and the luggage trolley is in the right place too! And what a clean locomotive; must be ex-works. I have always thought that it is my best railway photo. Not bad for a teenager! Possibly the same location as this Scotrail 47. RMweb Gold ruggedpeak Posted September 10, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 10, 2020 This photo on the Class 33 thread shows a 47 on the centre road by Platform 9 at Reading in 1973 - a regular 47 parking spot!
