tractor_37260
Thanks Ian, I did read that some time ago but had forgotten about it. My class 26 will probably stay as is for now, it's something I can live with. Cheers Peter. Hi Peter Liking the early style roof radio pod/mounting plate and the fibre glass roof panel detail on the 26, I'll need to have a go at that.......... P.C.M
Hi Peter Great thread, I like the Rail Freight Van, one of my most loved era's was seeing those and on the Hoppers to with Rail Freight with Red Tops... Great memories, why didn't we have the photo technology back then, to have more memories of that time, good times! Regards Jamie Thanks Jamie, It would have been good to have a digital camera back in the day, though knowing everything was going to change would have been good as most of my pics concentrated on the loco and not the train. Cheers Peter.

P.C.M
The class 26 body is almost done, just need to do the chassis now. This might be a while as other projects have pushed the 26 back down the pile. Cheers Peter. Edited May 17, 2018 by P.C.M

P.C.M
This workbench is well overdue an update so here goes. Llanbourne has been short a 5 coach rake of MK1s for some time now, and after the last running session I thought it was time to crack on with the project. I have also made a start on two MK2s which will be swapped into the MK1 rake to make up a short 4 or 5 coach set which will be used on a Manchester Bangor loco hauled service. The 5 coach rake will form the second Holyhead - Crewe, Cardiff set. Two coaches from this set will also be used in an early morning Pass/van working which uses a BSK and an SK. Work done so far. MK1s .Pull coaches apart remove steps on coach ends and add handrails where needed. file down ribs on coach roofs open some windows and get the no smoking signs on the windows in the correct locations, add curtains to the first class compartments and renumber using replica rub on numbers. Paint interiors The Mk2s have had less work but I have removed the Battery boxes and filed them down so they don't sit as low. Also renumbered No Smoking signs sorted and interiors painted. Cheers Peter.

P.C.M
Weathering completed to the two vans today. I have also used the Lima Windows and cut them out as individuals and glued them in flush which looks alot better problem is I will have to do the others now. All my Lima van run on old Mainline or Replica bogies and have the correct 14mm size wheels. Cheers Peter.

Wayne 37901
Nice work Peter, it's the simple things that count. Was the weathering done with washes? I have a GUV and CCT to do for a short train on the new layout. Cheers Wayne
P.C.M
Nice work Peter, it's the simple things that count. Was the weathering done with washes? I have a GUV and CCT to do for a short train on the new layout. Cheers Wayne Thanks Wayne, Yes these two were done that way. It's not the way I do everything but these vans did seem to get very dirty back in the day so plenty of thinned paint on a brush painted over the side and then wiped off with a cloth. Cheers Peter. Rich Papper
Hello Peter, Just chanced upon this thread and had a thoroughly enjoyable read through - as others have said, great work. Will have to read about Llanbourne now, although that might take me a bit longer! Rich
P.C.M
So what I thought might be a quick project is now running into it's third week. I bought some Flangeway Mermaid wagons and I knew they needed a bit of work from reading some reviews but the biggest problem for me was that they rode about 3 0r 4 mm higher than my Cambrian kits. So along with removing the weight from the chassis and cutting it down to fit under the body I also filed of some plastic to make the body sit lower. I have also decided to repanit the grey as I thought it was a bit too dark. The wagons are now back together and just need weathering Cheers Peter
P.C.M
So while I had the paint out a few other wagons have been added to the job list. The Whale is a Cambrian kit that has been sat under the layout for about two years. Cheers Peter.
P.C.M
So a bit happening in the last few weeks. The Mermaid and Whale are ready for weathering. I have also been working on a class 33 26 and 27 chassis basically fitting ploughs and detailing the bufferbeams plus adding the exhausters to the class 33 chassis also adding crew and doing the bogie mod. Cheers Peter.

P.C.M
Just a bit of an update re the two loco's I have been working on. 33008 was actually finished just before Christmas but 27005 has taken a bit longer as it needed some work on the underframe.
