RMweb Gold russ p Posted March 30, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 30, 2019 They are rescued wild ones that for various reasons can't go back to the wild, some people don't agree but I believe that if they can't go back to the wild a domestic life is better than putting them to sleep. We have had six over the years and there are two here at present three of the other four had long and happy lives with us . We have released another rescued one into the wild tonight and there is another coming for release tomorrow

monkeysarefun
Been spending time researching at Sydneys Rookwood Cemetery over the last few weeks. At 700 acres and a million internments its quite a haven for birds and wildlife like possums and wallabies. Apart from the compulsory crows there are large numbers of more Australian style birds.

They'd decided to settle on the hawthorn hedge. After 30 minutes or so they'd quietened down and I took this picture. They may move on as it seems an odd place to start a new hive. I've called the local beekeeper, but not had a reply yet. We had another swarm about 25 years ago. Came home to find the corner of the garage covered in bees. The local beekeeper took them too. I expect he's passed on now though. Rob Almost a year to the day and we had another swarm today about 11:30. this time they've holed up in the bushes behind the garden. Rob The pic' isn't great as I had to shoot against the sun and zoom in then enhance and crop. They departed a short while ago, almost the same time as arriving yesterday. I'll have to remember for next year. Rob Edited May 22, 2019 by mezzoman253 Additional info'
