coachmann
This truly excellent layout provides so many photo opportunities because of it's depth and attention to detail. Conversely the Hornby 8F 2-8-0 isn't the most detailed locos in its catalogue but by golly it is one of the best Hornby's at capturing the essence of these engines. The moody misty shot of it on the embankment brings to mind so many LMR and ER location that I knew in steam days.

A rare visit by a Hornby B1 next? (stolen by Saltley or Aston). Cheers, Peter C.

coachmann
A like button with a qualification here......I cannot fault the scenery as it is so realistic, but that pesky rust-bucket off the Western might as well be a modern day Sprinter for all its non-excitingness... . forest2807
Totally agree Coachmann, superb layout, one that I'd like to see in the flesh. Hats off to all involved. But as for Westerns, ugh, never seen the appeal!
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted February 8, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 8, 2014 Hope the show goes well and sorry I can't be there. I will have to rely on photos posted on here to check that the trains are correctly marshalled and that appropriate locos are being used.

Ah, In the context of the diesel era I can understand that. I ignored the Westerns in Chester in steam days yet there I wus chasing one to Blaenau a few years ago...

Popular Post Killybegs
Seeing those wonderful photos of the canal and railway in model farm reminded me of a day I spent in the Black Country exploring the canal system in the late sixties. I am attaching a selection of the photos taken that day. The weather was awful and these are scans of small prints so I apologise for tghe quality. The locations are those that I noted at the time, I hope they are correct! RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted February 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2014 That upper fiddle yard looks way better than the cassettes. One of the blue locos seems to be a bit green though...

RMweb Gold SHMD Posted February 8, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 8, 2014 You know, with the "How realistic are your Models" thread, photo-shopping and the very generous contributions of members, it is difficult to know what is real or model any more. Well done to all models makers and well done to those contributing their archives. Kellybegs, I bet BCB members could have got even more inspiration from those photos - if that is at all possible! Your photos and what BCB has achieved is really in sync here. Thanks, Kev.

I note the parcels rake is marshalled to avoid having to use the three links on the vehicles with gangways - just the way I'd do it
