Recommended Posts

Have done some more to the engine shed today, marked out where l will cut the roof tiles, added a workshop and toilet to the rear ...

Don't like the TOILET, it's go no roof on it, a very cold wet Carp :nono:  :nono: :nono:  :nono: hahhahah, rest looks brilliant mate.

George,

It's been interesting to see you use plywood so well - I have recently been discussing buildings with those who build with plastic and those who build with cardboard as well as wood.  It becomes personal preference ... for me I still have some unbuilt cardboard from 30 plus years ago so perhaps I will put these together when on holiday sometime.  Young granddaughter wanted Thomas today and while putting a 6' x 4' together I realised that I had Xn old cardboard signal boxes and other buildings as well as a number of small plastic kits so I might as well prime them and stick them together to fill yet another cardboard box.

Cheers Peter

Thanks for the whitty comments and the likes guys, makes it all worthwhile, waiting for some more plywood to arrive, l have used ply - plastic - card in most of my building ventures over the years, case of whats at hand never had any problems with using card, once its painted you cant tell card from plastic.. going to add the DAS clay soon, then scribe some stonework to the shed, should be fun...

Added the roof to the toilet and workshop and marked out where to cut the tiles, going to try something different on the shed walls, instead of using DAS clay and getting messy l am going to scribe the plywood instead should be a lot less messy ?.

A lot of hard work has gone into that by the looks of it, brilliant mate.

Thanks Andy, l have as you know built many building for many people over the years but have never really built any good buildings for myself, but having had some long discussions with over the past few weeks l have realised that l will never have a exhibition layout for myself, there is just too much hassle and frustration involved, maybe if l were younger and fitter who knows ?

Hi George

Nice pics of 80080. The East Lancs is a lovely preserved railway. I visited earlier this year for the War Weekend. The photo of your pint is one of your best ever !!! We need to do a lot more on this theme.

Spot on Jeff, we go once a month on a Saturday where SWMBO takes a look around the market then meets me on the station about three hours later, crackin' day....

Hello Buddy, Well l have decided to make some new points, but this time l am going to use wooden sleepers using C&L chairs, as l found that the soldered ones didn't look right, so l looked through my wood supply and found 2 12"x12"x3mm plywood and cut them up at 7mm l now have 72' of sleeper now, just waiting for the chairs to arrive...

Looking very good mate, what colour will you do it, as most were Region specific colour wise?

Good point Andy, when most of the work is done l will give the shed a coat of primer (dark grey) and that will be the mortar colour, and then dry brush some greys to the brick...

Mortar's NOT grey mate, check out Al's Tunnel mouth, he used a Yellow ochre to start with as most mortar is a yellow / cream colour, and then he's used a Grey for the Stone work.
