RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted April 1, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2012 An amazing photo of street running in West Brownsville, PA. Truly great, by Gary Knapp Has more than a whiff of O.Winston Link about it, being well-lit in the dark. Great photo, as you say, Pete.
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 1, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2012 Has more than a whiff of O.Winston Link about it, being well-lit in the dark. Great photo, as you say, Pete. It reminded me immediately of the O Winston Link photos. I got a copy of "The Last Steam Railroad in America" from a sale in Borders. One of my favourite train books! RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 1, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 1, 2012 Most of my photos of buildings would come into the generic small category but here is a Main St (Collinsville, CT) taken from the former depot yard. Β Β Tony
Jon Grant 4472
Walthers, City Classics and DPM generic parts and buildings were used in these scenes. Composition is very important in trying to make the generic parts into a believeable whole. The generic Walthers backscene was eventually replaced with photographs as there was only so much you could do to hide it. Wills, Ratio and Rix parts are also evident in the third photo. RMweb Gold John B Posted April 3, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 3, 2012 Some variation in domestic architecture - Barberton OH again. Β Β A lakeside home, definitely once the prosperous side of town Β Β Same street Β Β Company housing - wood frame row houses alongside the Babcock & Wilcox boiler factory Β Β Condemned property, same street as above
AndrewC
Here's a few from me. Further west. Β Β This is Inglewood in Calgary. One of the few remaining areas with buildings dating from the early 20th century. These are unusual in that they are brick built. Most buildings would have been sandstone. Β Β Β Β This is Hungry Horse Montana. Its claim to fame was one of the largest mail order model railroad shops in the US used to be there. Note the steep all metal roofs. Β Β The famous Eddie's of Apgar in Glacier Park Mt. Lots of good detail and I think it would make an interesting model. Your mileage may vary. Having seen this pic though, I have a sudden craving for Huckleberry icecream. Β Β Β The main drag in Whitefish Mt. Β Β West Glacier Mt. Β Β Finally a bit of silliness. This is Kalispell Mt's Bison in a box on US2.
RMweb Gold John B Posted April 5, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5, 2012 Not a building so much as a sign for a drive-through liquor store. These are popular in Ohio, at least - and are large sheds where you literally drive through the building, in many cases. Β Β Main St, downtown Barberton. Note how no two buildings have the same frontage or roofline.. Β Β Barberton Herald building. At first sight a simple box, relieved by some decorative brickwork. Β Β Some more timber framed company housing Β Β Residential street scene - included to show the typical "clutter" in terms of utility lines, street furniture, etc that abounds in older neighborhoods. Adrian Wintle
Β The main drag in Whitefish Mt. Β This could be a main street of a small town anywhere in the northern midwest. Park Rapids, MN and Lewiston, MI (towns I have visited) both look a quite like this. Β Adrian
RMweb Gold John B Posted April 5, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 5, 2012 Some rail-served industry (heavy variety) now - again from Barberton OH: Β Firstly, one of the newer parts of the Babcock & Wilcox boiler plant. This is one of the plants where they make boilers for power generation stations. Β Β For contrast, one of the older buildings in the same complex Β Β and the "goods inward" stockyard, with heavy overhead cranes prominent Β
trisonic
Interesting and iconic view of the building of Liberty State Park, NJ. shortliner
In Nairn, Scotland there is a building called "The Mini in the wall" which had the rear-end of a Mini- embedded in the wall above the shop windows - but alas - 'tis no more! http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.aspx/1882316?UserKey=
