ALL, A quote from Ray, (Tender) on GeorgeT's Ashcombe thread;

Looks like Richard at DCC Concepts has taken this problem on board with the new Cobalt iP range.
Quote from website:
Whatever voltage or power source you choose, it’s OK! Cobalt-iP Digital has a really wide-ranging safe Power input – Whether you model Z, N, TT, OO/HO, O, G or anything in between, Cobalt-iP Digital is always happy. Acceptable power bus voltage range is 7~23v, AC, DC or DCC!

The KL thread is ambling along with minimal input.

You are welcome to keep posting on here, if you wish.

The new KL2 thread will be starting in a couple of weeks time when I get chance to switch garden building "off" and garage conversions "on".

Cheers Duncan.

The support for removal of the NER line has been unanimous and certainly makes things simpler (I won't even mention it when I put up the initial KL2 plan in the new thread). It also - ironically - helps with some of the potential problems the pillar could have caused. A ridiculous feature, but I'll work round it!

I'm waiting a bit longer as I'd like to start the thread just before I start the bunker conversion.

Very pleased about the study/library. It's a pleasure to work in.

Hope you are getting sorted. And I expect plenty of input from you on the new thread!! A post every now and then might stop Sir Bodge taking over!

You heard it here first. Jeff is going to build outside the garage door.

Neil, it sounds like you are an advocate - very beneficial - of the scientific skill of looking "outside" the box....

Are you a Sun reporter?

Mick, if he was a Sun reporter he'd already have illustrated his comment with topless models of Mark 1 coaches and railroad workers....

Now then, Bodge - calm theeself down lad!

Thanks Jeff

Getting sorted slowly and trying to find space for a small layout that can be expanded when the opportunity arises.

Although, some modelling has been taking place that may be incorporated into a layout and will be revealed in the Lounge in the next couple of weeks.

Looking forward to the start of KL2 and the chance to provide some input.

Jeff young Man,  now that I've got 18 ft and you've ONLY GOT 16ft, I really do think you need a Bunker Extension, hahhah

Bodge

Ah, but Andy, you're thinking that size matters only in the length dimension ie. "mine's bigger than yours!".....  :jester:  :jester:

But a bit of width is also much appreciated.... and I've got 16' that way, too.

Maybe you need a bit of "Bunker Viagra"!!!!  :O  :O

Hi Guys, what you have to remember is that for the last 4 years or so, I've had 9 x7 so anything seems huge.

I'm glad its taken longer than originally planned to get the Shed and Base sorted because,

A, I've had more time to raise some much needed funds, and

B, I've had the chance to re appraise the Potting Shed size.

At one stage it was looking like it would be about 10 x 12 and that would have been it, now I will have room for a nice run, a nice fiddle yard, gentle curves, almost a scale length Station and yard, room for the work bench / spray bench and loads more benefits.

One thing I may do is use the extra foot of width for baseboards rather than a walkway, I will have just under 9ft across once its lined, so if I go for 2ft 6 inches wide for the boards that will still leave just under 4ft walkway which is ample apart from when I have more than a couple of visitors.

The extra wide boards will mean a couple more roads in the fiddle yard, but more importantly more room for scenics on the main board, more yard area, more fields, more cottages, more realistic, less model like.

The Shed man is now also going to supply and lay a new floor on top of the Tounge and Groove flooring. He is laying my preferred base of 2 inches of Polystyrene and then a treated Plywood floor. This will not only give me a softer floor to walk on but also insulate it more and stop cold coming up through during the winter Months.

Also I didn't relish the thought of lugging 8ft x 4ft sheets of 18mm timber around in my state of health at the moment, and, he's only £2 a sheet dearer than a well known high street DIY Store, plus as it will come with the Shed I don't pay the DIY store delivery charge.

Bodge.

Poor old Kirkby Luneside thread....

Creeping towards 300,000 views and its inexorable end!

And all I'm doing is - bricklaying!!!!!

I'm enjoying the contributions to the Lounge, Dent and Bitton. Guys, you are inspiring me and I'll be ordering the first batch of timber/insulation to start the new bunker in about a fortnight.

Now all I need to do is find where I put all the bl**dy tools - the ones I had so neatly arranged before the house move!!

Never mind Jeff get KL to 12999 posts and pull the plug, new beginnings are afoot! Whoooopiiiiiieee!!! Erm.....If you find your tools that is.

I managed to dig out a couple of containers of tools earlier today. One contained my Dremel and main 18V drill, the other was dominated by claw hammers - EIGHT of them!!

Where did they come from?

I can see a fair bit of re-tooling may be necessary, in addition to the timber etc....!!

Really looking forward to the new thread Jeff. I'm sure it will be as much fun as 'Bitton' with contributions from the usual suspects! I have to say that I've learned more from following that thread, along with George's 'Ashcombe', Jason's 'Bacup' (Especially the attached thread on the buildings!), Mike's 'Dent', Ray's ' Camel Quay', Al's 'Bakewell' to name but a few, than I have gleaned from all the 'how to do it' books in my collection! I can see from looking back at the start of the KL1 saga, that we are in for a further treat. When fitness and funds allow, I hope to start in a small way myself, probably early spring at this rate, and it's all due to the inspiration that you chaps have given me!

Thank you, and kind regards,

Jock.

You are quite right about the input and inspiration from the individuals you've named. Quite exceptional stuff and great people, too!

The start of the KL2 layout is probably about 6 months away. I'll be discussing a number of things and showing my garage conversion in the initial pages of the KL2 thread. Since that's not going to start for 3-4 weeks I felt it pointless, at this stage, to start the new thread. I'm looking forward to it, though!

Eight claw hammers!!!!  I use them for a living and don't have that many, I was going to say; do you know how to use them. but looking back to your 6x4s I'll ignore that pun! AND I'm not being drawn into THAT debate again either :beee:  :beee:  :beee:

_8_ claw hammers?  I mean, I might have 8 hammers (20 lb sledge, 2 lb sledge, FG claw hammer, wood claw hammer, Andrea's (wife's) claw hammer (*), hammer in steaming gear box (tack hammer), welding tack hammer (cheese !), box hammer, hammer for model railway (small), and probably one or two more around...but even still, I only have 3 claw hammers, and one of them isn't mine.

8...

I mean, 8 tape measures, I'm sure I have.  8 saws, I know I have.  8 Britannias...nope, only 3.  8x8x8x8x8x8 pieces of lego?  yep... (not 8^8 though !)

But 8 claw hammers...

James

(*)  Andrea's claw hammer is like a model one...it's a 16 oz claw hammer.  Did I mention she's fairly small?  (5' tall)
