EBay madness

I have one FGW PC and Big Bob Oversett has the other of the pair. Likewise, we each have one Grand Central buffered version.................. We both wanted to do an NMT with one buffer and one non-buffer PC.

Maybe me and Bob need to have a joint ebay account..........?

Cheers,

Mick

Flog em! You can then buy an XC set for considerably less and make a profit!

Also, the FGW one doesn't actually have the correct roof detail for the NMT at any time. The XC model is correct for 43062 as it is at the moment. (Grand Central ones aren't correct either for the NMT as it is at present, mind).

Good morning all

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4d07a44ae6

How can something be mint if it's hardly used with slight marks on it?

Earlswood nob

Not strictly 'mint' I would agree, but things do suffer slight damage in their boxes (Dublo 4MT tanks almost all have a vertical mark across their number due to this).

As to the track etc., this is fairly easy to replace to complete the set (if you're interested of course).

To be fair to our friend, he does list the defects in his wares (it's just the strange/exorbitant prices!).

By extremerely rare in this condition, perhaps he means with that super collectable Beatties sticker on it?

Perhaps the grey roof makes it rare. :jester:  I like the CR loco too. I  saw the real thing when she visited Bristol Temple Meads in the late 50s. The model was, I felt, spoilt by the oversize driving wheels and splashers (more cheapskating).. Perhaps I should get one to go with my CR coaches.

Tri-ang just made a caley style body to fit the Lord of the Isles chassis...that would explain some errors....

If you go for one, avoid the later issues with a deformed chimney!

I wonder how many coaches there are with white V grey roofs?

Hmm.

Nice C 1959 - 1961 issue.

Triang R250 Transcontinental TC-Series Double Ended Diesel NON-POWERED DUMMY MIB

Excuse me, but I don't think this set had "Series 2" track. If it had been called that, that would be "Standard" Track. I think that "Series 3" would be the one! C1959 -1961 Set!

Hardly run? No wonder with no track! ;)

Glowing with Factory Freshness! Does our seller work in advertising?

(I do wonder why the track is missing...rusty? Why not put some nice track in? Too much hassle?)

This set has hardly been run and is in mint condition.

The loco has a couple of light marks from box rub, but all decals are perfect.

The coaches are all original for this set with grey ribbed rooves, with the odd coach having a light mark.

All series 2 track and the power clip is missing. Comes with a 1961 Seventh edition catalogue, and servicing leaflet. The inner box is excellent and comes with the inner card protector piece. Lid is perfect with no repairs to the corners and just glows with a factory fresh look. It is also supplied in the original factory mailer card box.

I don't really understand this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181212877477?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Four locos boxed and ready to go for a ridiculously low £89.  Seems way too cheap to me and yet someone has made at least ten offers presumably even below this steal of a price and they have all been rejected.

I can't put my finger on it but something doesn't feel right here...

Just over an hour to go if someone wants a poorly described Bachmann 158 in WYPTE livery 'urban train'

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electric-train-/271274543937?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3f29390b41

Arrived this morning, packed in too small a box causing damage to front of power car, inter car coupling cut off at the bogies to fit it in box. :nono:

can one have a rake of two wagons?

Well what would you call them - a nice pair perhaps?

aka Definition: Railway term rake a group of wagons or coaches coupled together as one unit.

As there are more than one that constitutes a group. So it all comes down to are they coupled? Even if not, then I have seen the term used frequently for boxed multiples, so this guy is not alone for picking on.

Sounds like someone being realistic - two x tender engine at c.£30-35 each and two x pokey little engines at c.£10-15 each.  That's about what they would fetch in auction so nothing way off beam as far as the BIN price is concerned - although other things might not be quite so marvellous of course.

Must admit that in the past I have found that sellers who can be bothered to take a good photo or be bothered to describe their item are equally lazy when it comes to packing things properly & communicating. It has made me err on the side of caution when one or two apparent bargains have cropped up.

Hope you get things sorted to your satisfaction

Why pay less than £100 for your O gauge coach seating when you can pay £150 – and with the pleasure of funding the ****** Gostude too?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360751177634

Retail price, brand new, would be £99.95, so for a whole 50% extra you get... absolutely nothing!

This seller must rely on the gullible and stupid to survive. I bet he does it quite well too.

Looking at the photographs there is no sign of the inter car coupling

Bang goes the 100% positive feedback then?

Keith

I will contact the vendor first and see what he has to say.

Its not quite the bargain it appeared to be, but £30 is still pretty cheap. I haven't the facilities at the moment to test it, but the wheels need a bit of a clean first.

This one of his is even more misleading:-
