RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted September 5, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 5, 2013 We've had empty boxes, we've had dreadful "collectors" items, but this moves the game a little further : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/C881-Ancien-tube-de-colle-Maquette-Faller-train-Ho-PC-505-4-1960-/390654828958?pt=FR_YO_JeuxJouetd_TrainsElectriques&hash=item5af4d7a19e £25 for an old tube of plastic glue? Even old glue is collectable It might be needed to complete one of those highly desirable unassembled kits (I don't see the point - the whole point of a kit is the pleasure of putting it together IMHO). Il Grifone
Almost as good as his other AWESOME stuff....... Cheers, Mick Is that AWESOME or AWFUL? Re weathered 45xx:- (IMHO) Water treatment meant that lime stains were unlikely, the GWR safety valve casing was intended to send the steam upwards and prevent dribbles etc. and rust on an active steam loco is unlikely due to all the greasy muck about (possible exceptions are brake blocks and the lower smokebox (on the inferior products of lesser railways that needed thrashing)). RMweb Premium Neil Posted September 7, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 7, 2013 AWESOME I've had a look at some definitions of 'AWESOME' elsewhere on the net and came across these gems: An overused adjective intended to denote something as "cool" or "great" but instead winds up meaning "lame." This is actually a reflection of the lameness of person using the word, the degree of which is directly proportionate to difference between the user's perspective of the so-called awesome object / person / situation and that of a reasonably sober, well-informed observer. "Bono is awesome.""This pizza is awesome" (when the pizza in question comes from a food court at the airport) ...and.... Something Americans use to describe everything. Il Grifone
Their attitude to sellers makes me reluctant to sell anything on eBay, let alone something of this value, for which I would be inclined to use a specialist auction house. However, in this case, I would have thought a claim against the carrier might be possible?
Rail-Online
Their attitude to sellers makes me reluctant to sell anything on eBay, let alone something of this value, for which I would be inclined to use a specialist auction house. However, in this case, I would have thought a claim against the carrier might be possible? That was what I suggested to him, but he believed the purchaser simply dropped it while unpacking it and the damage was done before it was packaged up for return - hardly the carriers fault! In any case if the purchaser makes a real mess of re-packaging something up (I have had locos sent simply unwrapped placed in a brown envelope!), the carrier should not carry the responsibility. valeofyork
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-32-755-KIT-BUILT-NETWORK-RAIL-CLASS-57-3-LOCO-57312-MINT-DCC-my-/360706035812?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item53fbc15064 A tad optimistic, I feel! A repaint, even a decent one, is not likely to sell for anything like this, especially when it's now available in this livery from the manufacturer anyway. And why does this seller advertise all his repaints as 'kit built'? It really is not an accurate description of a repainted commercial model!
