In my old Hornby catalogue from around 1973 this was in a set that could be operated by inserting a ticket into the station roof!

You can tell the product photographer was more interested in image composition than illustrating a young boy playing with his train set!  Lying across the track??? 🤪

Indeed! How about a fictional Big Livery 20 from Lima’s 84/85 offering:

Time to come clean and say I bought 33025 and the equally fictional 87022 both secondhand in 2017!! It took Google to see I was still gullible!!

The most important question/s to ask here are:-

"Where is his Hi-Viz jacket?'

"Is he wearing steel toe capped boots?"

"Does he have current P.T.S. training?"

"Is there a look out down the line, on the approach to the work site?"

"Is there a possession in place for work on the track?"

"Has the appropiate permit to work been issued and signed off?"

Otherwise, I think he may be illegally occupying the track?.......

Most of that would not have applied in 1973! Grubby donkey jackets and live line working with cloth capped lookouts…

However, child labour laws were in force so he couldn’t have worked.

My mum told me that in the 1950s my grandad would take her out with him to walk his mile on Sunday mornings with a bacon sandwich in a platelayers’ hut as a treat.

I bought the Lima model of 87022 brand new from a swap meet for £5 and when staying with friends living next  to the west coast mainline near Bugbrooke in Northamptonshire watched in vain for that livery, do remember seeing the APT  and locos with oversize numbers though!

Still got the 87 too.

And a scar on my finger made with a Stanley knife after trying to 'adjust' a Hornby signal gantry so the cls 87 could pass through with the pantograph up 🙄

Hopefully the original Postman Pat, not the CGI remake! Just like Thomas and Fireman Sam remakes.

The following link isn't for the faint hearted.....

I bought a donkey jacket in a charity shop back in the 1980s. Alas, I never got wear it, my mother confiscated it saying it made me look like I worked for the Council!

My mother didn't want me having one either, but I did stencil the BR arrows logo on the back for one of the skinheads at school, would have been about 1984.

I eventually ended up with an old one years later that I wore when I was cutting firewood, the rest of the time it hung on the shed door and the sun bleached all of one side.

It IS cheaper than a new Heljan, though I got an old Mainline one in green for a third of what they want!  In a  good box too....  🤪

Offer a tenner and hope you can get that muck off?

I don't really do BR Blue, so it doesn't matter how badly the muck adheres. Anyhow I don't need another one!

I sent Rocket Railways a quick message via eBay’s messaging …

It started with a line of 🤣

And words to the effect of “You’re having a LAUGH! Good luck selling at that price - you’re gonna need it, 1% reduction or not!”

My only excuse is that it has been one of those days…

To give RR their due, they immediately responded with “Lol….. That is actually an error should be 9.99 Thanks!”

Hmmmm 🤔

Surely they meant £9.90 if the decimal point was in the wrong place?! 🤨

Wonder if they will actually update the price, or leave it there in the hopes that some uninformed unfortunate actually coughs up £89.01 more than they purport to wish to sell it for?

HOURS OF FUN!!

Depressingly, this is still on for £99 this morning, despite the lolz, silly-old-me and assurances to the contrary:

I just dropped them a quick note via eBay messages mentioning that three days later and it is still listed at £99 …

Wonder what the response will be this time?

Each time someone complains, they increase the price in the series 99 X 99 X 99...
