RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 7, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 7, 2013 Well here is a doggy seller (private listing) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380593010430?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 £128.56 and it still has about 3 days to go. Love to have one but not at any way near that price. Also another private listing which I considered was over paid £205.03 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111018667142?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 when the bag of castings is not shown (what is missing ) and the boiler needs to be taken off and put on again to get it looking right. The first one started at £2 and the second at £29.99, bidding mania strikes again.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted March 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 7, 2013 Another euthanasia candidate. kintbury jon
Very interested to see whether this goes 'mad'. Looks a really nice paint job but is strictly speaking incorrect due to it being an unrefurbished set (commented on in the listing). Odd choice of unit number though. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-EMU-Class-411-4-CEP-South-West-Trains-Conversion-4-Car-Unit-/310620427658?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item48526b958a

Pete 75C
But you are probably unable to offer the same warranty terms that the original retailer provides. Bernard Of course not, I'm a private seller on ebay, not a dealer. That doesn't mean the item isn't "new". I think you'll just have to live with ebay (re)sellers listing items as new when they are, er, new. Pete.
Il Grifone
IMHO 'as new' is acceptable, whereas 'new' is not, as the item is 'second-hand' for which the term 'used' is treated as a synonym (even if not strictly so).
RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted March 7, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 7, 2013 Can an item be "new" when it is 60 years old? I refer to examples of new Hornby Dublo which have never been used. Or prehaps we should not say "new", but instead say "unused". It doesn't have the same ring to it though.
Horsetan
....collectible schrodinger's cat .... I didn't know these existed. What are they worth on eBay now?
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted March 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2013 The model is to be completed by the purchaser as for the boiler needs to be refitted true but that the risk you take when purchasing. Terry That looks a difficult task to me.
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted March 8, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 8, 2013 I didn't know these existed. What are they worth on eBay now? I thought their price had been pegged to the round tuit, though there does seem to be a glut of those at the moment. Supply and demand of course. Adrian Wintle
Good Lord. A box - £95? Lots of lovely photos of it on the page, though. Presumably, sellers of items like this one must be hoping that somebody doesn't read the description right? No, they are catering to the collector market where a box in that shape (and it is in very good shape, with all the bits) might actually be worth something. It isn't something that I would care about, but that doesn't mean it is overpriced in the intended market. Adrian
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted March 8, 2013 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 8, 2013 (edited) Good Lord. A box - £95? Lots of lovely photos of it on the page, though. Presumably, sellers of items like this one must be hoping that somebody doesn't read the description right? It can be a case of 2+2 = 5 If you have some really collectable loco/rolling stock but no box it is usually worth quite a lot less than fully boxed items so it's worth re-uniting them. BR2's were fitted to the earlier Std4's IIRC. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dwbphotos/8405041161/ EDIT - In fact there were more of this type fitted to Standard 4's that the 1B. A quick check of the book - BR2's fitted to 75000-75049, 75050-75064 had the similar 2A. The final 15 (75065-75079) had BR1B's with high sides EDIT 2 - The OP is correct - Thanks to Keith a few post below, it's a BR1/1A - which were never fitted to 75xxxx (Must go and revise my Standards ! ) Cheers, Mick Edited March 9, 2013 by newbryford

Except that the pic of the model on sale does not have a BR2, nor does it have a BR1B. It appears to be a BR1 or 1A and as the OP said, I think that is wrong. Keith This is Bachmann's description of the original item: "BR Standard Class 4MT 4-6-0 Locomotive, Running Number 75023 in BR Green Livery with Late Crest & Type 2 Tender" I assume a type 2 tender is meant to be BR2? Keith Here's an original: http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewLot.aspx?LotId=269579&Section=0 It says BR1B on box!
