kandc_au
Guys, The actual ad says....never been out of the box. The Toad is sitting on a piece of track! I suggested, tongue firmly in the cheek, that the toad was in a see through box. if that was the case the certificate had to be see through as you could see through to the toad! khris
davefrk
I see some MGB has listed three limited edition Warley show toads already. http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 Yeah, I remember a certain trader from up the north of Scotland who bought a dozen limited edition 158 sets done for 'Model Rail Scotland' and they were on EBAY on the Saturday evening of the show at an inflated price. A good businessman or a TOAD? Dave Franks
RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted November 26, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 26, 2012 Yes theres a total of 8 currently listed and from what I gather they didn't sell out at the show either. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p4712.m570.l1313&_nkw=warley+toad&_sacat=0&_from=R40
Jim49
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item416e995ad5 I think the underframes, pickups and the couplings are probably the only Hornby Dublo bits.......and why would he think that a 3-rail loco -suitable only for very large radii - might sell for £175 after all these years ? Rare it certainly is Ah, but this isn't just any old Beyer Garratt, it's the prototype, inside cylindered, Great Western Railway Beyer Garratt as shown by the copper capped chimney.
RMweb Premium melmerby Posted November 26, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 26, 2012 I gather they didn't sell out at the show either. I assumed that they did as it was announced with several hours still to go that only 40 were left. Keith

Crantock
Interesting that there are "Warley Toads" on Ebay but no examples of 76114 (the BRM offer 2-6-0) up for sale.
Torn-on-the-platform
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item5d363b4bce A little disappointed that a well known retailer would use 'LOW PRICE-LOOK!', especially when the price isn't THAT low. Its not as bad however as seeing ex-Hornby collectors club locos for sale at more than the price of subscription though, something that I see at shows and on Ebay quite regularly.

Kenton
Those lovely people at Ebay ended 2 of my listings today. They then wrote me a lovely email telling me that I had been naughty and broken their rules for listing items in the incorrect categories, and if I did it again they would drown some kittens or punch a baby penguin or something. They, in their infinite wisdom, went on to advise me the best category in which to list similar items in the future. Wasn't that nice of them? The items in question were 2 empty Hornby wagon boxes. I had listed them in Collectables; Trains/Model Railways, which seemed to me to be an obvious choice, seeing as that category usually lists many other empty boxes for sale from other sellers. Ebay advised me to place them in Everything Else;Other. I wouldn't really think that would exactly maximise their exposure to the people who are most likely to buy them, would you? Muppets. Grrrrr. I just wish they would do this sort of QC more often. Speaking as a buyer rather than a seller. There are many listing that clutter up the few searchable categories. Items listed under locos that are definitely missing a loco, are but the tip of the mess that is ebay. Magazines that seem to be Finescale, along with other general components from broken Triang and Dublo - I could go on ... I rarely search for things by category but by description. What does everyone else do? It has virtually become impossible to search ebay with any conventional search unless you are looking for something very specific - and even then you end up with loads of items that are not even remotely related. I had about 20 regular searches usually for kits/locos/layouts but it was becoming difficult to exclude the unwanted dross. I now put in a regular * for everything ignoring the BIN (usually over inflated optimists) and simply skim the results with the PgDn key. My eyes seem more able to filter than ebay and so what if I glance past some "bargain" ... there will be another. One thing I would wish ebay to do is to enable a black list of sellers so you never get to see those junk sellers.

Kenton
Since when have Lima Class 31 handrails become gold dust? One set is at £6 already with some time still to go!! Ah that will be the ones missing on a Lima 31 recently for sale "without handrails" .... I do hate this trend in dismantling items to sell the component parts as if they are genuine spares. Especially those photographed with a wood grain background and look as if they were just removed from something hit with a hammer or having undergone some experiment with gravity. royaloak
"YOU NEVER KNOW ONE OF PRESERVE THE LOCO 'S MAY YET SEEN ONE DAY IN THIS LIVERY" Makes about as much sense as the price. Just like 40145 (as 40445) did in the 1990s!
