Pretty much the same reason I steer clear of Farfalle and cappeletti pasta!

As does that loco he's selling. 😉

I seem to remember buying something from this seller way back. I don't recall there being anything like this in his blurb then. Sounds like somebody has upset him.

 Cheers, Rich

Yes, but the red-stained aperture would be a concern...

It's a tricky one really. There have been times when I've had to make it very clear when selling a restoration project vehicle:

"This is a restoration project. Although it will run, don't expect to turn up and drive it away.

Don't expect to get a mint example for peanuts from some yokel who doesn't know what it's worth.

Don't expect to turn up and haggle on the price, the winning bid is the agreed price and non negotiable."

That may seem harsh, but I've met some absolute stars over the years.

Item description from the seller

Fair condition working

Good God - I’d hate to see what he would describe as “poor condition”

Also, “working” for me would mean that it could at least - as a loco - run along a length of track under its own power. This example patently can’t (well, not without lurching and falling off said track)

I won’t be purchasing …

A more accurate description would be:

"Rough condition, but the clockwork motor works. Obviously it will need attention before being used and a number of parts replaced before it can be used as intended. Sold as spares or repair."

Maybe I'm just too generous when I'm selling my rusty old junk?

The seller seems to have a few issues.

Given the stated condition, perhaps some buyers have demanded and received a refund based on 'Not as Described'!

Used: An item that has been previously used. [I concede that this is true]. The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.

How can this model be 'fully operational and functions as intended'? I'm sure that Hornby didn't originally sell it in that condition and expect a purchaser to be happy!

This item may be a floor model or an item that has been returned to the seller after a period of use. [So previously sold and returned, maybe]. I wonder if the previous buyer returned it in the same condition, as when purchased?

Take the train?

But my nearest railway line, is to 5ft 3in gauge! So I don't think a Serbian loco is going to fit.

Not even in the overhead lockers? Poor show, they should allow for such requirements.

An 8 Tb SSD for £99? Another scam of course.  The only 8 Tb SSDs that I have seen cost around £900.  Amusing to see it's being offered by weight. £99.99 per kg it says, so looks pretty heavy!

Not Ebay, but on AliExpress you can now get 128 Tb SSD for just £21!  Wonder how long it would take to format if it were real, which of course it isn't.

Would converting from OO to EM or P4 solve the problem?

By coincidence EM gauge to 3.5mm scale is almost exactly 5'3".
