.... meanwhile elsewhere in the kingdom of e-flog modern wagons, even Irish prototypes, still seem to command rather high prices.

I don't do Irish (though have thought about it). Trouble is, either you've got to be confident at scratchbuiding/building resin kits, or have deep pockets.

Must admit, although I'm retired, I would be tempted to pay for someone else's work provided it's good quality.

now who is going to buy guarantee card ?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4cfc378ed2

Believe it or not, a bit back when Farish was dormant for the 4/5 years in between Poole closing and Bachmann relaunching them, these Guarantee Cards were hotter than Pokermon cards.

I guess the real 'prize' on offer is the 'grandfather rights' to use non reflective , black and silver plates , which in these days of personalised numberplates could be sought after. I don't see the point really unless someone has a hatred for getting caught by speed cameras etc .....

I think the old plates are just as identifiable on a speed camera as the black-on-yellows.....

... and cash only to boot.

And local pick-up only. So you are going to meet someone you don't know, carrying at least £750 cash about your person. He no doubt hopes the bids will reach 4 figures. I suspect he's going to be disappointed.

My colleague told me this morning that he sold a "very rare" Hornby Dublo "Rail cleaning wagon" together with a few other more common HD wagons in one lot and sold them for £240!!! He was amazed at how much it sold for!

He said that the "Rail Cleaning Wagon" was the very last item made by Hornby Dublo before it became Triang.

Anyone fancy a full set of Clans - all 25! The 10 that were actually built plus the 15 additional that were planned but then cancelled. I would suspect they're recycled Britannias.

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ab14f7120

The vendor admits that they are modified Triang Brits, admits that the tenders were not painted or modified to match the locos, and is asking us to stretch credibility for 24 locos that we might not want - I'll go for a DCC ready Clan from Hornby at £150.00 (full RRP).

I fear that he will be splitting his "priceless" collection of Clannias.

There's one currently listed on a well-known auction site from a well known seller at a Buy-It-Now price of £350

Well at least it hasn't got solid corridor partitions!

Or how about this one - a "none" runner. Not surprising really, no motor, no wheels, no roof and both ends are damaged.

I particularly like the quote "cant tell its hogwarts because of weathering,so can use as normal loco"!

[mischievous mode on]

How about lots of people putting it in their watch list, just to get his hopes up? :O

Cheers,

Mick

A real contender for "please bin it now!"

It's meant to be "Buy It Now" ... but I think you're probably more accurate.

Quite high on the "WTF-ometer" that one. I wonder if it's meant in some vague way to represent something like this?
