I sold a heavily modified version of one of those, as part of a Princess Elizabeth set, a few years back. The set was bought for my brother and I in 1954. Times were still hard then, and Dad soon got fed up with buying new batteries for us, so he bought a transformer then added connectors to the controller. He also added a speed control with a hand wound resistance coil. A few years later we were given a Jinty which ran much faster, so to get it to run slower a second coil was added. A fiver cheaper than the ebay placeholder battery but "Stock Status: ***Out of Stock*** ", which was what it was the previous time I was looking to see if 126 batteries were still available. The interesting thing about the ebay battery is that its a "battery holder" for 3 C type cells, which might be more appropriate for running a Triang train set! At those prices, I'd be inclined to get some C battery holders and make my own replacement 126 style batteries... 2 1

Its odd that its not illustrated sideways when upright. I expect there's enough slop in the construction for the non-powered end to stay in contact with the rails. Also, there's a Triang coupling at the non-powered end, and a Dublo coupling on the motor bogie, though that is clearly a Triang one!
