EBay madness

I've had a prompt and polite response from the seller, this is the actual position regarding loco 4321 and loco 3200.

"New message from: barriesattic (37,421TURQUOISE_SHOOTING_STAR Star)

hi i totally get what your saying BUT here is the oddity

the loco with the airfix chassis and kit built tender ( 4321 )

has NO power at all...not in chassis or tender ( i will adjust listing )

the other one has a triang chassis ( 3200 ) and the tender is from a airfix loco but all the motor components have been removed

so your kind of half correct

hope that clears things up

its all part of a scottish deceased estate ....where i sold over 200 kit built locos ( highland railways etc )

best regards...merry xmas...barrie"

That clears up the confusion I think, I've no connection with the seller other than having bought a number of items where I was more than happy with what I got for the price.

Not train related but still eBay madness.

I was looking for a Clone Captain Rex (Star Wars) Lego figure in phase 2 clone armour. I found several in my search and people were asking A LOT of money for just for one figure. One was advertised for £55! They all seemed to be around that price

Too much for a Lego figure. I would have sold it for a couple of quid.

Yet another Mazak-afflicted Hornby Class 31

At least I strongly suspect it is.

So that equates to “good boxed condition” - apart from the not so good aspects.  Yours for only £109.50 + £4 p&p.

Cheers

Darius

It means that it is in a condition, in a good box!

Quote from their description:

GOOD, BOXED CONDITION

TEST RUN (SLOW RUNNER)

BODY LOOSE, SOME LOOSE PARTS INSIDE. BOGIES LOOSE, BATTERY BOX LOOSE.

Boxed: YES

How is it in good condition with the issues listed?

Slow runner: Probably partially seized due to distortion.

Some parts loose inside... That bodes well!

Face it Rails, it's a parts donor. Except that the parts everyone wants are busted.

Chancers! No wonder model shops go out of business if they try and sell stuff like this for that kind of money. Over a hundred sheets!! I'm not a bloody tourist! It's a tenner for part(s)! There goes the reputation.......

Talking of black latex catsuits... Diana Rigg has piled the pounds on!

£19.99 + £2 postage for a figure costing about £2 and that atrocious paint job .... and the 'artist' has loads more equally badly painted celebrity figures. According to the Ebay listing 2 have sold. There must be some mugs out there.

A peek at what else this seller has to offer is like a trip down Knockturn Alley! Deffo Dark Arts!

Possibly English isn't their first language, which might explain some of the grandiose spiel in the eBay listings too.

They also have this, which was highlighted earlier by @Paul H Vigor

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233869013183?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=RCidPT2rTsa&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=3qkTzGg7QRS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I'd looked at it when my phone was in monochrome mode, stating that I thought it might bring a few hundred as a piece of folk art. Now I see it in colour, I'm even less convinced. The yellow underpainting, (Why? Red oxide would be more convincing for something home made) which makes me think of a primer used on structural steelwork that is to have an intumescent coating.

Possibly made in India last year...

Whatever it is, it's not £6500.

That is what got me started looking at that seller's stock. I have often been tempted by quite charming Indian tinplate toys based on old cars, buses and trams etc. that seem to sell in the £20 to £40 range in our retro market and one or two of the more down market antique shops around here. I have yet to succumb.

It sounds like you should succumb - and then resell them on Ebay at silly prices.
