I understand Westward Ho! refers to a different Ho??

Well, I do know that its Westward Ho! to Trinidad, and Eastward Ho! to Spain....

If that helps!

"The village's name actually derives from its geographic circumstances: it sits at the confluence of the smaller Roman River and the River Colne. A "hoe" refers to a jutting out piece of land while "finger" describes an elongated finger-like land extension. "Ing" is a common toponym in the UK referring to "peoples". As such, the name refers to the "people living on the land jutting out into the river"." So it's all quite innocent really! 🤓

Indeed :)

Other side of the river to Brightlinsea (where there is an ex-LNER ferry under renovation into a houseboat, just to add a little railway interest).

To get back down to the calibre of ebay madness - what's the definition of a spreadsheet?

A prostitute's place of work.

I thank you.

Niche, very niche! 😎

Bolts are only threaded part way up. There's a section of unthreaded shank below the head.

If it's threaded all the way up, it's a set screw.

A Russian made Kalashnikov has a dark reddish coloured stock.

Chinese copies which are the majority have a pale beige coloured stock.

Those never come up in the pub quiz either.

You can fool people sometimes like that. Some years ago I was back in the UK and found myself at a loose end and helped a friend with some structural restoration of a 16th century manor house. There was some daft conversation about my dog finishing off a takeaway curry, which ended with "all you find is the foil carton and that's been licked flat..."

At this point the property owner came in with coffee and said "What's licked flat?"

"I thought you'd have known that having been in the music business Mel, they supported The Velvet Underground on the 1969 tour..."

It just sounded right.

A pentatonic scale based on B♭ minor?

After Mr Vigors "Air" comment...

Doesn't Andras Schiff look so young on the LP cover....

I almost posted the Glenn Gould version, but although Gould is a marvellous player, I can't stand his humming along, sets my teeth on edge!  The first time I heard him accompanying his playing, I thought something was wrong with the LP....

Lord knows, but whatever they are, they look singularly unappealing!

Perhaps surprisingly, there are some things that dogs will refuse to eat.

There's nothing quite like a good Fugue to accompany one's 'air'! 🥸
