Triang/Hornby Dublo R.5083 OO Gauge Terminus/Through Station Kit

This seems rather pricey, I could be wrong, but I doubt that the £4 postage would cover the insurance value.

Can't get the link to work!

Hopefully this is the link.

Its an odd colour for a Hornby Dublo station as they are usually a cream colour. Either its a very rare version or its been re-painted. If it is a rare colour its a bargain, if its a repaint its not worth very much. Enlarging the pictures doesn't help as if its a repaint its very well done. If your interested I would suggest asking the vendor if it is indeed a repaint.

I prefer the Triang Hornby colour to the HD cream, but of course the cream 'render' finish was standard for HD buildings, as was an Art Deco style.  I considered the Triang buildings to be more 'railway like' in a generic sort of way, and had the bricks and slates been defined by recessed lines instead of raised ones (see SR Utitily Van and others for this effect on planking) they would still possibly be the basis of decent models that could be worked up even now.

Definitely. My first attempt at building a model railway used for it's station building, one of the old maroon Tri-ang booking halls with the yellow arched windows. I re- cladded the whole thing (it had no brick detail) in embossed plasticard and painted the woodwork and canopy in GWR colours. It was my first attempt at using plasticard rather than card and as an eleven year old, it spurred me on to build a model railway rather than a train set.

I remember clogging up some of my dad's files taking off what bit of detail there was.

Tri-ang, the gateway drug.... :D

My "gateway drug" was a combination of an "old" Christmas edition of MRC and a couple of Airfix Pug kits....

The Maurice Onions article described a number of Pug kitbashes.

The Jedburgh article is a nice BLT alternative to the GWR...

I had a look on ebay, but no one was being mad enough to sell a copy...

Me too. There was an article in the 1983 MRC annual (The first one I ever got) on how those cover shots were created back in the 60s, using amongst other things, glycerin and cigarettes smoke!
