Well somebody had a good day for selling!

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kit-built-South-Eastern-Chatham-Rly-10T-goods-van-No-9934-4mm-scale-00-gauge/143988261283

A second one went for £65

And then this for a plastic kit, I know they're @@RARE@@, but even so!!

That's ridiculous, I thought it was OTT when an unbuilt MAJ models wagon of that type made £28.

Bought a couple of them unopened  in 2019 out of a £2 box at an exhibition.

I think that I will build them just to annoy the collectors ( or make them even more "rare" and valuable. :scratchhead:

I have at least 2 in my kit mine - from the same sources! Having said that, I guess the kit mine should be viewed in a new light?

I wonder if prices will return to the pre-Covid norms, or is this to be the expensive 'new normal'??

I don't think that items like that were any cheaper pre lockdown. A D&S wagon kit I had thought about bidding on hit £83 about November 2019, the same thing has been fetching £50-80 on a regular basis since.

"Manufacturer unknown" but the brand is Kibri.

German railway modellers seem to go for that sort of stuff so I suspect it's HO scale not OO.

Perhaps we should ask him to double-check the dimensions to confirm they're right?

At the moment it could be a gold mine!

Personally I think it's a bubble which will soon be burst.

We know that there will always be some more sought after kits or models for different reasons, but once we can get back to shows and club meetings traders. and individuals, will see that it's not a sustainable model (excuse the pun!).

It's just the unique set of circumstances which have driven the demand.

Think the 'Fire Triangle' remove one element and the fire dies down. In this case though the three elements are Spare Time, Covid and Disposable Income.

If a Spielothek is an amusement arcade and a Sex Shop is a sex shop, where does the cheese fit in??

Both video gamers and porn fans tend to be the types that smell like cheese, or salt and vinegar crisps.

There's usually a few soap dodgers at model railway exhibitions too... ;)
