RMweb Premium newbryford Posted October 5, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 5, 2018 Okay... This one has got me scratching my head: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/N-Gauge-Farish-Class-47-Islambard-Kingdom-Brunel-D1662-BR-locomotive-in-G-cond/323482911082?hash=item4b5115816a:g:1G0AAOSwF2FbtoDE Only one pic of the underside and it is definitely not a Class 47, not enough wheels so gawd knows what will land on your doormat from this lot!!! "proper photos to follow"..............

Il Grifone
I know this is our 'friend' from the Lake District, but this price is beyond 'madness'. (He must have misplaced the decimal point, though that would still be expensive.) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401551600058 Allegedly, "You are buying (I'm not!) a hard to find,,,". They are not really hard to find, but there would be a reason - They are a cr*p model of nothing in particular, which dates from the 'It looks something like a coach/wagon/locomotive, so it will do' period of the late forties*. In the unlikely event that anyone wants them, he has a couple more. *The actual item is from the sixties/seventies, but has it's origins in the distant past (like me!). Why has he used inverted commas around “hard to find” in his own listing? It’s almost as though he knows he’s taking the p.155...
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted October 19, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2018 The difference between our two 'friends' is that one purveys expensive mostly quality stuff, whilst the other purveys just expensive stuff. I have to confess that once I bought from the former and was very pleased with the item which unusually was the 'right price'!

The other Tender thing, which includes some retail outlets (!) is putting the tender back to front behind the (usually correct) loco!

Bodmin Bob
Also listed, without tender, in his other items. I successfully bid for what looked like a very nicely built brass kit built Maunsell Q from this buyer a few weeks ago - but to my dismay when the parcel arrived the following week it contained a kit built SR USA tank together with a Hornby Q1 tender!!! It was a bit of a weird discovery. The seller couldn't subsequently explain what happened to the Maunsell Q so I eventually got a refund and the USA tank and Q1 tender went back. Now low and behold a couple of weeks later the same Q1 tender is now available with yet another tank loco - very strange!!
