I notice as well that that particular one is not an auction so you can only buy it now. On the other hand, is that a rare version of the Nellie/Connie etc loco?

Most of his items are BIN, aren't they?

If this is a restored item, I would hate to think of what an unrestored one looks like.....

The 'restoration' appears to have consisted of replacing the original body with a (clapped-out) post-war one. Pre-war tenders have pale gold, red shaded lettering like this:-

AFAIK Nellies are blue, Connies are yellow and Pollys red. There are some mix ups in colour and number which makes them rare - 'worth' perhaps £15 rather than £10!*

* Usual Grifone exaggeration, but not a lot more....

There are less Yellow (Connie) and Red (Polly) loco's than Blue (Nellies) because the blue was manufactured for a couple of years before the other 2 and was also used in sets.

But no way is any of then worth best part of £100.

Not sure why it wouldn't work on standard gauge layouts as well...

Perhaps the bars are 9mm apart...

Or perhaps putting a good pre-war coupling on a post war tender that someone dug up in their garden?
