Missing some "Roof ventilation domes" is indeed a common fault, but not easy or cheap to remedy. (They were available as spares once upon a time, but no longer AFAIK, and it's probable that they would all have to be replaced as another manufacturer's part will be slightly different.) Also how can something "code 3" (i.e. repainted) be "VN MIB" (very near mint in box)?

I paid a couple of quid for one of these not long ago (from a dealer at a toy fair) - no box (but who cares?) and it needs a bit of TLC.

Code 3 alert, Code 3 alert.

Dive, Dive, Dive.

(Sorry wrong program).

Code 3 announcement means that somebody has vomited!!

Sent to Mr Cartmel.
You say "Code 3" this seems to imply that somebody has vomited. Station controllers will use this to inform cleaning staff there is a “code 3” that needs their attention.
So how does this come into the equation of an item that you have either not described properly or put ion the wrong photo.
Get your act together otherwise you will be on Jankers.

I've just had an email from ebay with "2 bargains for you" and it suggested this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/401334291022?ul_noapp=true

I think I've never paid more than £8 for an Airfix FO so this one can go whistle..................

The other one was the mythical autocoach mentioned a few post back.

I've actually sold something to our friend in Cartmel in the past, but I don't think I'll ever buy from him.

Cheers,

Mick

Did anyone else clock the item in the Tony Hetherington column in the financial pages of the Mail on Sunday today about the woman who wrote in regarding her Ex who set up a PayPal account using her Credit Card details - the Ex had been using the account for years for a business venture which 'trades in model trains and vehicles' - this wouldn't happen to be one of our featured 'friends' on here, would it? :)

The breaking up of perfectly good items for spares has now reached ridiculous levels:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NO413-Hornby-DUBLO-MECCANO-GUARDS-VAN-CHASSIS-DIECAST-S15C-/222138890130?hash=item33b8827792:g:2TIAAOSwMNxXUCcv

The rest of the unfortunate wagons is available on separate listings.

A complete one of these can be obtained from any toy fair for a few pounds....

... and have any of us inadvertently bought from him?

The same applies to cars!

The whole is worth less than the sum of the parts.

Eons ago, not long after the Morris Minor ceased production, it was reported in the press that a dedicated fan decided he wanted a new one (don't ask me why!) and had the bright idea to build one from spare parts. (One could acquire all the bits back then!) It was alleged that it cost over £4000. The last list price of the vehicle was under £1000 IIRC .

It happens here, too. A Jouef Picasso railcar is sold in a zillion bits, clogging up my ‘Autorail’ search. Sigh.

Now what is going on here?

This says "Scratchbuilt", but the photo looks very much like a bog-standard Hornby Level Crossing to me?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-HO-Gauge-Scratch-Built-Single-Track-Level-Crossing-With-Crossing-Insert-/132334597627?hash=item1ecfc1b5fb:g:GPgAAOSw9fRZwVEG

So, the crossing is assembled around an R.600 Straight Track....and a rectangle of black plastic(?) card glued on the bottom to hold it all together.....

Well....I'm scratching....my head that is! ;)
