RMweb Gold 96701 Posted December 14, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 14, 2016 Sadly, in this case and some others, I think you are correct. In others though it is the layout makers themselves overestimating what people are prepared to pay for their hours of 'toil'. I felt horrible breaking Geoff Brewin's model railway up, but it was screwed and glued to the loft, so totally unsellable. Mind you, it was a lot of fun when he was alive and running it. If they are, l've got about ten of the things somewhere! Its the job of salesmen to up the price, that does not mean to say we have to pay these prices. We are in Christmas mode where retail supposedly makes its profits so I guess the cheeky prices will come to the fore or they are trying to make the market accept higher prices I must admit seeing their prices rise over time, which means I do not buy from them now (never bought much from them in the past anyway)

If they are, l've got about ten of the things somewhere! Dublo switches do seem to sell for around a fiver (in good condition) and the long threaded rods for joining them together are also sought after. The switches were quite expensive new, after all. However, considering the state of these (corroded, broken and missing two of the knurled nuts*), I think they are exaggerating somewhat... * These make a nice (i.e. ridiculous) price on their own. This one is a bit better and it comes with the box. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-3-RAIL-D1-SWITCH-STRAIGHT-POWER-CONNECTOR-RAIL-BOXED-VGC-1-/152356211270?hash=item2379234a46:g:fogAAOSw6DtYUY3L And here's another hopeful with the nuts... (Free Grifone tip - buy the rail and nick them from that & save a packet!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-Dublo-Spares-Terminal-Track-and-Switch-Securing-Knurled-Nuts-x-2-/302164380879?hash=item465a668ccf:g:26sAAOSwiONYNvFX Edited December 17, 2016 by Il Grifone

How hard can it be? P.S......sorry they're power cars ... The photo isn't very clear but they appear to be Lima German coaches... (I know Lima is now part of Hornby, but they weren't when they made these.) Presumably they are listed in error, but as the original posters stated, more care is required. Still one of the three has a bid! I trust the buyer knows what they are getting. Perhaps they like a gamble? That's not even worth the odd £9.50! I'd say a fiver at most (or better still leave this junk where it is and buy Bachmann's version....) They've got the matching full third as well, at the same silly price! Pedantically, the prototypes are steel coaches in teak finish, surely? These could be described as s'plastic finish' as the manufacturer cleverly partially mixed two colours of plastic to simulate the teak - it looks quite effective when varnished. (IMHO) In the unlikely event that anyone's still interested, there's one at £6.50... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-00-gauge-old-LNER-Brake-3rd-coach-brown-R746/112232754742?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D38661%26meid%3D0c57b8e2d09b4c25ad7ddd2548690d1f%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D131233154391 EDIT - finger trouble again!
