Il Grifone
Now its the "N" Gauge partwork models turn to be "Heavily Rusted"! Not forgetting the Tri-ang Clerestory Coach....Rusty Wood! Seeing it's one of the first Tri-ang clerestories with the open axleboxes, it might just have been worth £14.99, if it had been left alone.

Il Grifone
Didn't think any got to Barry. Neither did I - mainly ex GWR and BR standards which is why so many have survived More rusty wood: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Scrapyard-N-GAUGE-USA-The-General-loco-heavily-rusted-weathered-ref-1-/291943875841 I thought the standard "American" 4-4-0 had a wooden cab? Keith It did! and the General has been preserved. She only stood idle for a year or so and would never have been in this condition, though probably somewhat bent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_General_(locomotive) Edited November 19, 2016 by Il Grifone
Il Grifone
I think I've got one of these somewhere (unless I threw it out). (I've got an SAR 4F (part of a job lot....) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lima-SAR/222288997747?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D38661%26meid%3Dd9acd2a1e63a49efa5d400d911997195%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D262714296683 Is the reason they are hard to find that no one is looking - above all at the ridiculous price of £35? Not the best model of a Plymouth MDT but there are quite a few just as bad. The real thing is quite small by U.S. standards.

Il Grifone
I thought the con rods were removed for dead transit - a lot easier to get at... By 'valvegear' I really included the connecting rods (I should have put 'motion'), but it is necessary to remove the gear first to remove the rods. A reason that has been suggested for the GWR putting most of theirs between the frames - big ends need attention more frequently.

A pity that the loco lamp isn't on the lower centre bracket, and a combined white/ red LED....so it could be used for head and tail lamp.... The same goes for the coach driving end.... But does such an LED exist???? Otherwise, a Good Idea for fitting sound to a tiny loco.....and quite "correct" as well.

There is a way to drill into the plastic LED dome and attach a length of fibre to give the impression of a tiny LED. Something I might try adding to a model one day.

RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted November 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 22, 2016 I am struggling to understand Rails of Sheffield's Ebay pricing policy sometimes. I know that Hornby M7's, even broken ones have started to attract some silly prices lately but this one, clearly described as a non-runner has actually increased in price from a well OTT £59 ish to an even more OTT £69.50! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162165758680?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
