Earlswood Nob
However it does have Ratio bogies so that may have thrown the seller........... The Ratio Clerestory kits make up into a reasonable model. I cannot see the advantage of fitting Ratio bogies to a Hornby (ex-Triang) coach. The Ratio bogies would need new wheels as the plastic ones provided with the kits are useless. I have bashed several Hornby Clerestorys into GCR and NER coaches and they run well with Hornby bogies (I think they represent BR Mk1). A few seconds work with a modelling knife can convert them into a Fox bogie look-alike.
Horsetan
....someone brought along a Mallard matchboard auto coach part built by John Hayes many years ago but not painted. The comment was made that it is 'worth a fortune' - but is it really? Only to a future seller, arguably. If a "celebrity" builder touches and opens a kit box but does nothing else with it, does that inflate the kit's value if it is later sold on?
Il Grifone
Here's a Hornby Clerestory masquerading as a Ratio model. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Kit-Built-Midland-LMS-3rd-Brake-Ratio-Model-/262588147518?hash=item3d2379273e:g:VV8AAOSw-itXueI7 It's also a GWR coach* masquerading as MR/LMS.... * or at least a reasonable facsimile of one....
