EBay madness

Not madness but just curious...

Can these be old Farish ones. If so they're in remarkably good condition considering they usually look mangled/distressed!

Definitely Farish, they're probably some of the odd bodies that were cleared in the late fifties. Never having been fitted on the cast underframe (infamous for 'growing' due to alloy problems), they will have suffered less stress than usual and warped less. The typical  Farisn 'sway back' roof is in evidence, though considerably less than normal. (In the sixties, they were reissued in polystyrene and these are usually warp free.)

Here's an interesting one, Lima Italian diesel for sale on e-bay £28.

The seller boasts 'Brand new Lima blister packed italian locomotive. Hobby range so not over detailed but a new 12v dc model locomotive for £30.00 amazing. At this price I can't see it hanging aground.'

However same loco direct from Hornby, £19.99.

Makes the basic RailRoad 0-4-0s such as:

http://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/new-arrivals/railroad-0-4-0-kelly-son-paper-mill.html

look a bit overpriced!

Still available from Bachmann and still cheaper even with membership fee added:

Got the impression this one has been a slow seller anyway.

And the Scalpers are trying to get double RRP as if its scarce.

Rgds

Only £28.95?

I'll raise you to £35.00!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R6777-Christmas-Wagon-2016/262477433134?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3D974a367984ca4536a6cb4b9573cc4612%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D282063861600

That's (nearly) three times the RRP on a readily available item. (It's in stock at Hornby @ £12.99 +PP or free PP if you spend £30)

The really must be some super-mugs out there if they can get away with that.

As we're talking about camouflage....the roof of this looks like the wing of a Spitfire. Most terrible job, which the seller is describing as "...a fantastic realistic job." (and 'Expertly Weathered', of course)

I think the clue is in the use of the derivative of 'fantasy'..... :jester:

Just add a bit of scrim netting, some boxes of ammo plus some strategically-placed squaddies, and you're well on the way to a military diorama....

I have worked it out, at around 1 Aus $ = 50p sterling.

Although you don't have to buy it. Hattons have them for £81, and Rails for £76.50 (other retail suppliers are available) but I don't know the overseas postage rates for something of that size and value, so I can't say if it would be that much cheaper by the time you received it.

Postage from Hatton's to OZ is £7 and less than the 20% VAT that they will deduct for you, so buying from them will be much cheaper.

Ok this one takes the absolute urine!

Well known box shifter listing a used Dapol Provincial 156 on eBay for £109.50.

Same retailer selling brand new Dapol Provincial 156 (the exact same item) via their website for £99.50.

That's disappointing,

Paul

But they're open to offers. I'm sure if you offered £99.50 it would be accepted.

I'll leave you to work out what this one is supposed to be, because the photograph doesn't give any clues at all....

:jester:

4mm scale OO Hachette second open coach (TSO), liveried as an addition to the NRM Flying Scotsman BSK support coach produced by Bachmann. Has close coupling, NEM coupler pockets and metal wheels. Correct photos to follow. UK buyers only. Reduced postage for multiple purchases.

I think the photographer fainted for some reason?

Another "Partwork" coach about to break cover! ;)
