EBay madness

Just read the blurb on this piece of junk. Does anyone really want a Dublo 4MT chassis fitted with a Tri-ang 3MT body? (Above all at this ridiculous price!). There appear to be loading gauge issues too.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-TRI-ANG-LOCOMOTIVE-FOR-THREE-RAIL-RUNNING-/131382358735?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e96ffb2cf

Note the N2 tank in the photo is not included, but is on sale separately with three modern Hornby coaches. (more amusing blurb!). incidentally the Hornby coaches will derail on Dublo pointwork (Been there, done that, didn't bother with the T-shirt!).

Hi,

If you want a good laugh just have a read of his description.

Written by a two year old i'd say.

Regards.

Where does the M7 come in?

Ran away as fast as her wheels could carry her, I think!

(I did wonder myself!   EX-L.M.S./SOUTHERN REGION ??????)

Just noticed the seller has this too.

For that price you could get the genuine article!

They're not all that difficult to make yourself, being plywood.

Fabulos.

That just about sums it up.

Still at this time of year we should not deny him the right to sell things in order to put food on his tables.

It seem that the vendor of:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DOUBLO-PRE-WAR-STYLE-ENGING-SHEDS-AND-MESS-HUT-/131380779021?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e96e7980d

has twice refused to complete sale on items as NOT ENOUGH WAS BID.

Is he one of those who puts an unwritten reserve on items?

Why does Ebay let him continue selling?

Another from the 'Why do people do things like this?' files......

"THIS LOCO HAS HAD A COMPLETE RE-BUILD INSIDE AND OUT."

Bit like Trigger's broom, then :jester:  ( it has had 17 new heads and 14 new handles....but..... insists it is still the same broom.)

Apparently they are made for him by a professional.

Ignore the guff about £150 upwards, Vectis (not the cheapest source) sold one for rather less than that not long ago - £110.)

http://www.vectis.co.uk/Page/ViewAuctionLots.aspx?AuctionId=432&DayNo=1&Section=5935&Sub=0

Guesses are invited for his surprise item - My suggestion is the wooden footbridge? (it wouldn't have been one of Dublo's best products!)

As to his feedback, I can understand him not wanting to part with his Trix coaches for a paltry sum but that is how eBay (or any other auction) works.

Professional gambler? Or professional con-artist?

He's also selling this distinctly-minty "M7", the only problem being that it doesn't look much like the M7....

I leave that to others  - making a reproduction that isn't marked as such, but does bear a likeness of the original trade mark transfer.

Not only does it not look like an M7, it doesn't look much like anything...

It was the same broom, he even had a photo of it as proof!  :sungum:

Eyup!  We've got a live one....

MK2 coaches and Inter-City 125 coaches are Mk3's.

How about we all put in really low offers? (In a very good, but mischievous - a bit like Boris, but only cleaner, mood,,,,,,,)

I've gone for £2.87

Cheers,

Mick

EDIT: £2.87 was declined.

That's a 3MT.

Hard to imagine purchasing anyone who turns product descriptions into ALL-CAPS WANDERING RANTS.

The Tri-ang version was stretched a bit (can't understand why - they made a whole new chassis block and pony trucks for it, but were too mean to make new coupling rods* ) and the result is long enough to fit the 4MT chassis (again why - there's no shortage of any of the correct parts).

*and used  the wheels and the rods from the 3F tank, which are about a couple of scale feet too long. (Undersize wheels and over length rods look rather ridiculous IMHO. The model could have been quite reasonable for a little more care.)
