http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/oo-gauge-train-/251649563571?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3a977b9bb3

It's a pannier, standing on its tail.

Probably the most inept listing I've ever seen.

To me its a posting by some one who hasn't got a clue about model railways (as the seller has stated). So they've have started the action at 99p. So what's the alternative, have a minimum period of modelling, before allowed to attempt to sell something, that they have zero interest in?

Good luck to the seller I reckon. Certainly not trying to mislead anyone.

3 Hornby wagons factory weathered.  I know factory weathering isn't to everyone's taste but I wonder which of Hornby's new factories turns out stuff like this?

One owned by Bachmann......?

Cheers,

Mick

Not my area of interest or expertise but I recall a posting a little while back about a Rovex Plunger Princess going stratospheric. One to watch for the next week?

If you look at the "real" factory weathering --> seen here in the Hattons pictures http://www.ehattons.com/35956/Hornby_R6506_27_Ton_Iron_Ore_Tippler_Triple_Wagon_Pack_BR_Grey_Weathered_/StockDetail.aspx

What this appears to be is a case of "well, I can do a bloody sight better than that Hornby weathering crap...grabs tin of rust brown paint and cats tail...proceeds..." :jester:

I just love how "professional weathering" defys chemistry and rust forms on wooden planks.

This is not a one off If you check out the other listings this person has been practicing weathering gets good feedback and people actually like the weathering and even pay it compliments

I see that its derailed, as its running on a sleeper.

You didn't notice anything amiss with the English, or the fact that the photograph is orientated at 90º to the usual stance of a pannier tank?

I said inept, not dishonest.

I know you did, but give me inept & poor grammar/spelling every time over deliberate lying such as 'factory weathered', 'professionally weathered', items clearly not anything like described - such as when the box says one thing, the actual model is something else. This is the sort of comments, usually discussed at length in this thread.

I see 5 people have seen the item as the poster has suggested it to be & have put bids on it.

Hornby 2 Bil units in BR green available BIN for  £83 from some sources on Ebay

Exactly the same model/version available 'weathered' from TMC for £184 - and not even weathered that well

Totally outrageous - you could buy 2 clean ones for that price and have enough cash left to pop down the pub to celebrate!

Only 1 left - so people appear to be prepared to pay through the nose - unbelievable!!

What's with all this brown weathering? I seem to recall shades of grey/black (dirt and grease).

Brake block dust (i.e rusty iron) did cause brown weathering but not very high.  In my experience Southern Region emus of this period tended to have good external cleanliness above underframe level but nicely fbrowned (as was the Region's track in stations) below the bodywork plus patches where oil got and other dirt.

This is interesting......looks like lots of black soot-like stuff has been emanating from the roof-mounted horns. It also looks like the number 2 end has driven into a pile of black powder paint? If this model depicts the real thing, Inverness should really take more care of their engines.
