Thane of Fife
I guess Stovepipe feels like me. If you are professional you oughta be abel to spel it proppa, spel checka or noe spelchecka. I would be more inclined to be taken in by those scam emails if the wording was spelt correctly in them. I cannot argue with this as I agree with the sentiment. An advert with correct spelling and true statements that doesn't use hackneyed phrases is more likely to attract serious buyers. However, I am slightly dyslexic and still have difficulty spelling. I cope with this by checking the spelling (and grammar) of anything that I post. I guess that others with spelling difficulty cannot be bothered to check, and so are unprofessional. RMweb Premium melmerby Posted April 12, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 12, 2014 (edited) Well you would not expect the professionals to know that they are Mitchell kits would you! There is also a Finney Dean Goods. Price seems spot on for that quality to me. However there are no excuses for putting the roof on the wrong way round after photographing the interior on this bit of LMS fiction. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KITBUILT-OO-GAUGE-LMS-RAILMOTOR-/201070620027?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ed0be2d7b Is it the North Staffs railmotor in that crazy livery? Tony Doesn't look much like it. The cab was split between the loco and coach, the loco was enclosed apart from the smokebox & chimney and it only drove the front wheels. Keith Looks like this IOW CR effort: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=lnwr+steam+railmotor&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=fflb&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=F-5IU8JVqbHRBd-TgOAE&ved=0CDUQ7Ak&biw=1600&bih=792#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=TzGFTvE1IyYZbM%253A%3BwdnooLAZ7W51DM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fi.ebayimg.com%252Ft%252FRail-Photo-IOWCR-SR-LSWR-Steam-railmotor-Works-Photo-%252F00%252Fs%252FMzE3WDUxMw%253D%253D%252Fz%252FLw0AAOxy5QtR9WFr%252F%2524T2eC16h%252C!%29!E9s2fDw6KBR9WFqvgYg~~60_35.JPG%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.co.uk%252Fitm%252FRail-Photo-IOWCR-SR-LSWR-Steam-railmotor-Works-Photo-%252F390634293472%3B300%3B185 Keith EDIT sorry if anybody was trying to read this whilst I was editing, but it wouldn't paste correctly! Horsetan
I'm not sure this is madness but I'd like some thoughts on the price of this pair of beauties from Rails. Not much of a description for 700 sheets. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KITBUILT-OO-GWR-4-6-0-KING-GEORGE-V-6000-LOCOMOTIVE-/191133183347?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models& hash=item2c806ced73 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KITBUILT-OO-GWR-4-6-0-BERRY-POMEROY-CASTLE-5012-/191133183343?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2c806ced6f I think you need to ask Mike Edge whether he remembers building these two...... If "Stella Artois" had built them, you can expect the asking price to be at least four to five times higher! Jock67B
Hello all, I know it's slightly 'off thread' but perhaps in the same vein, if like me you believe in the principle that you get nothing for nothing. Just reading the insert with May 'Hornby' magazine (I know, but we must have something to show how good our BRM is!) which offers a Carters tow truck and trailer for only £1.99 with free p&p. Surely there has to be some catch or am I just getting wary in view of the actions of the many disreputable organisations in posts above? Has anyone had experience of such products from 'Atlas Editions'? Fancied it for my great grandson as it wouldn't fit on my projected layout! Kind regards, Jock67B. I have the 'Battle of Britain' Spitfire and Messerschmitt duo, which I got in an offer like that for £2.99 (I think, someone correct me, please!) It's a genuine offer, no catch, so I say go for it! I've bought several items from them and they are excellent value, but since they're partworks, make sure you cancel after the first item or the second will arrive in due course (at a rather higher price). It can be returned for credit, but you are liable for return postage. Their products turn up on eBay at an inflated price!

Il Grifone
Thanks for the tip Il Grifone, thought there must be some sort of angle! Kind regards, Jock67B. The initial advert is none too clear, but when the item arrives, there is an offer in the paperwork for the second item, plus a few extras at a reduced price including the first item. (IIRC it was around £10 for the two and then subsequent items are full price (at least it was with the ones I had), Of railway relevance there are several in 1/76th scale - buses, trams, fire engines etc. (They do have a one item per collection per household rule, which is fair enough.) http://www.atlaseditions.co.uk/catalogue/bestsellers-on-tv.html?promocode=11Db&gclid=CO6gr-SE3L0CFVLItAodMX0ArA EDIT. The second item after the 'Carters' tow truck and trailer is a showman's engine, which looks rather nice...... (I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't......) Dublo spares in particular seem to fetch good prices - I've paid less for a complete item than its parts make on eBay! (3 rail collectors in particular - unless you particularly want authenticity, a Märklin skate will work just as well!)
