EBay madness

...Don't people try looking for second hand items at exhibitions or model shops anymore?...

Well there is no serious model shop anywhere near me and maybe three or four exhibitions a year which are only advertised locally (i.e.on lamp posts, on the Supermarket community boards, and with the occasional sign in a MRC member's garden) or in the specialist press, so how is the novice supposed to know either that the shows exist or what a sensible price is?

An advantage of yellow being really difficult to paint.  Get a dodgy finish and call it weathered!

And there is more by the same lister! .... :O

No, NOT Battlespace! The Battlespace well wagon was Khaki Green! :nono:

At least the Hovercraft is declared as "Non Triang"! ;)

Hmmm, class 86 wheels...really....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X6409-Hornby-Spare-WHEEL-SET-DRIVE-UNIT-CLASS-86-/130971071781?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1e7e7bf525

Seller says they are spares for a Hornby R3058 class 86637 in Freightliner livery...picture doesn't look right

Makes me wonder how much he knows about railways!

Jack.

Something along those lines, yes!

(AFAIK as originally sold, it was one of Margate's imaginative flights of fancy.....) (I'd like to be proved wrong, as I have one in a drawer somewhere.)

This Mail coach was part of the Transcontinental range (TC Series) and was released after the success of the BR Range Royal Rail TPO (The short one!)

As it uses the same "works" as the Royal Mail coach, and I suspect picking up mail on the move was not very common "abroad", the provenance is open to question.

Most probably based on a Mail Car, with the TPO works slotted in. Most probably Canada or USA inspiration....

Originally Maroon "Tri-ang Railways", in C1962 it was replaced by "Transcontinental" lettered cars in Red and Blue.

Later a red car with large "MAIL" lettering arrived.

A Battlespace Khaki green version was also available, the mobile command car.

Finally the TC car replaced the Shorty BR TPO in BR Blue and Grey livery, as it was longer, and fitted in better with the 11 inch mk1 and Mk 2 coaches!

Sir Henry Fowler is often misjudged.  His innovations included breaking away from the standard midland wheelbase and the introduction of taper boilers.  Josiah Stamp put an end to some of the more outlandish spend such as the cast numberplates and copper chimney rings seen here.

Fowler 0-6-0......

What is this all about then?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Exhibition-Club-Layout-Track-/111308552048?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item19ea81b770

The title is Exhibition Club Layout track as are the photos but in the description is

"Welcome to this auction for the seated figure in the first picture.  Also available is the ex-WMRC Exhibition layout 16' x 11'................."

At the very least misleading but perhaps someone is trying to be clever?

Tony

I see some were taken in by this it went for £35. He's either duped the buyers or lost a layout for £35.

Seems to me this buyer has stumbled on a fool-proof method of getting negative feedback by this deception!

I also note he's not had feedback for this one yet, although only a couple of days since it ended.

It'll be interesting to  take a look at that, when and if it comes through..

I suspect this was a way of getting the layout sold without incurring large eBay fees, via 'private arrangement'. I too wonder if there will be any followup.

I need one of these, but that's more than I paid for the rest of mine. Four times what the basic loco and tender cost (A new cowcatcher and spare body (for one of the brass bits) were a bit more though).

Something from one of our favourites usual suspects. Not the most helpful of photo's:

I seriously suspect that is not the item for sale. IIRC the M1 series have the hook couplings and lack buffers.
