RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted March 10, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 10, 2014 I am stumped by this one. Can anyone see anything here that justifies a finishing price over a hundred notes as all I can see is landfill. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281274457123?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Started at 99p, the eventual winner did not start bidding until the price reached £50! RMweb Premium newbryford Posted March 10, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 10, 2014 Am with you on this John. Also surprised that the winner REALLY wanted this by putting in 3 bids at the top end! Yellow? And it wasn't me......................... Cheers, Mick
Ian Abel
If anyone has a CLUE as to what you'll actually end up with on this one I'd be surprised; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-SR-SCHOOLS-CLASS-OO-GUAGE-ENGINE-NO-48073-TENDER-ALL-BOXED-/121290860906?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c3d7fa96a#ht_663wt_1231 You appear to be getting TWO locos - neither is a Schools, even though the WILLS BOX is for one! "Both Black", um, OK?? <baffled>
RMweb Gold Metr0Land Posted March 10, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2014 Can someone explain the bidding on this box which started at a respectable £1.99?
knobhead
I think the individual in Ian Abel's post means that loco and tender are separate models......? Edited March 10, 2014 by knobhead

A Lima Deltic and a Tri-ang Hornby A1A in blue. Amongst the stock are... some Playcraft wagons (hopper missing operating bit and low sided, etc.) Graham Farish Kit built "Suburban" coach in GWR livery ("Vintage"!) 4 Tri-ang 6" LMS Coaches Airfix Presflo, B Class Tank Ratio Iron Mink, no roof, filled with "coal"! Possibly a Ratio chassis (upside down) Hornby Gresley coach with bits missing Tri-ang TC Series Cement Hopper missing roof Tri-ang Starter set coaches (Yellow) possibly the most desirable bits! 3 Tri-ang Short Brake vans of various vintages and 1 missing a roof Some Tri-ang 1st Series platforms A lot of track, Lima, etc. not too good condition! Not what I would call a bargain...unless there is something else hidden in there!

"Both Black", um, OK?? <baffled> This is a case of three items. Selling a HD 8f 2-8-0 and tender. (Item 1) "Both" in black livery. The seller doesn't know that the loco is an 8f, and thinks that it is called after the box it comes in (Wills Schools Class kit box, item 2) The Hornby (Tri-ang) Hall (Item 3) is another lot altogether, pictures shouldn't be here! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-OO-GUAGE-MODEL-RAILWAY-ENGINE-TENDER-ALBERT-HALL-GREAT-WESTERN-/121290872965?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c3d7fd885

Don't be surprised if you see this lot again when the high bidder mysteriously doesn't pay, and the seller has to relist because of a 'time waster'. Anyone who suspects illegal, fraudulent shill bidding could, of course, report it to eBay. Or you could jump up and down naked whilst whistling the main theme from Star Wars. The latter would probably be a more productive use of your time.
woodyfox
I would reply back to him with A) How would I know how much you paid. B) £23.45 !! They saw you coming. Or you could just not bother if you haven't got any intention of bidding. The gent has named his price and will live or die by it? Could someone explain why this would be worthy of investigation and questioning of the seller?

"Both Black", um, OK?? <baffled> I think you are actually getting a Dublo ringfield 8F (presumably 2 rail despite the track) in a Wills box, though I would agree the listing is not the clearest. The Tri-ang Hall (dreadful thing) is listed separately, at a suitably lower price. Edited March 11, 2014 by Il Grifone
